Starter

I haven't seen anything specific on a website, but your best bet is to follow a manual. Either the factory manual, Haynes, or Clymer will get you through the details.

Attached is a very high-level instruction sheet used for GenII Compufire starter which gives the basic idea, but for all the details nothing beats an actual manual.

Once you get it removed and ready to reinstall, hopefully someone here can chime in with all the torque settings by the time you are ready.

if ya handy with a volt meter, make sure the solinoid is kicking in all the time. there is a small wire on the solinoid that should energise when the button is pushed. if it doesnt, find the starter relay and check the voltage, wires going into and out of the realy.....if it is an intermitent problem it is probably the relay. the service manual.....you do have a manual right?!! ya the one on the shelf over there.... it will give you pics and locations of your wiring circuit.
and the service manual is the best tool you can have in your tool box!!

The only reason I suggest the Clymer or Haynes manuals is they often describe procedures without having to use the specific factory tool and part number. I keep both a factory manual and Clymer to get both perspectives. Then when I tackle the job I have a broader understanding.

Agree, the factory manual should be your first pick, but for most maintenance the aftermarket guides do a great job and inlcude perty pictures

If nothing was wrong it's a possiblity that you have a bad battery, bad connection or both,

Get the battery load tested, if it's over 3 or 4 years old they can go, also if you have to replace it get a HD battery, they are the best out there JMO,

Clean the cable connections and check the grounds, you dyna should have three cables, positive to starter, ground to starter and a ground to frame.

Make sure everything is tight and up to full charge.

If that doesn't cure it look to the starter for issues

Removing the starter isn't that hard, but the guys are right, pick up the SM and a parts manual from the dealer, tells you step by step what to check and how to fix things.
