Starter

I have been having starter issues, slow turning starter, chattering engage/disengage...etc. Over time I have installed a new starter, new cables, new battery, rebuilt solenoid, compression releases. Just about every replacement part there is! And the problem does not go away. I have been delaying tracing the wiring back to the switch because my wiring is hidden and will be a real pain in the neck.

So, as a last resort, i bought a push button that bolts in place of the starter end cap. Wouldnt you know, it starts every time. And without using my compression releases. The only issue is i have to bring a right hand glove with me if i dont want to lose skin trying to start it hot!!!!

Try replacing the starter relay in the fuse/relay platen. That's the only thing left that you didn't mention replacing in your pursuit. Could be a bad set of contacts in the start relay....

I'll try it. I have a 30 amp breaker in line. if i jump the leads it should turn over, right?

Typical problem.
Best and often easiest fix is to add a booster relay. Think of it this way.

There are three circuits that make the starter work.
The circuit that provides power to the push button which operates the relay.
The circuit that operates the solenoid via the relay.
The circuit that runs the starter via the solenoid.
The usual problem is not in the starter button or the solenoid circuit but in the relay circuit.

Baggers have another problem with the length of the wiring. Voltage drop across the relay circuit causes the solenoid to chatter.
A good fix is to get a 30 amp relay at your local parts house and wire it as follows.

Mount the solenoid near the stock starter relay. Take the lead that goes from the stock relay to the solenoid and put it on the normally open side of the new relay.
Now, add a wire from the closed side of the 30 amp breaker to the feed side of the normally open contacts. This feeds power from the battery to the starter solenoid with out voltage drop.
Make a lead to go from the closed side of the stock relay to the new relay.
Make a lead to ground the new relay.

Basically, you are adding a relay into the circuit that feeds from the stock relay. The new relay provides full battery voltage to the solenoid.

I fixed a lot of Bagger starting problems with this.

The manual button works so well i blew off the electrical diagnosis. if i ever get the inkling to tackle it (this winter probably so i dont ruin the riding season i'll post my results.
