Stage 1 installed on 02 Sporty 1200. Bike starts, runs for about 15 seconds, then dies. Wait a few seconds, and it starts, then dies as before; Can repeat this process over and over. Mixture screw adjustment has no effect. Fuel tank is the aftermarket stretched type with equalizing line at the front bottom. Ran fine after the initial Stage 1 install, then I had to do some other work, (replace ignition module and re-run some wiring) so I had the carb and tank off. Now it does this after re-assembly. What do I have going on here, vacuum issue?...fuel tank vent issue?...float issue?

Go back and check the fuel lines you removed. Sounds like it could be fuel related. More than likely something you did when you removed the tank. Could also be the module.

Original ignition module was bad, bike wouldn't start at all. Replaced it with dynatec digital, started right up. Now I have this issue. Vaccum indiates good on the dynatec module, as does the timing. It just seems like it is emptying the bowl, then filling back up after shutdown, which allows the restarts. Seems like a loose wire would be an intermittent thing and not the consistent pattern that is repeating here.

You said that you had to take the carb off again? Did you take the carb apart again? It sounds like you don't have the carb on the manifold properly. If not, did you put the needle in correctly?

No, didn't take the carb apart again. Looks like it is seated in the mainifold good and solid. This thing sure is making a good case for graduating to fuel injection! Ha.

Do you have the stock fuel valve installed yet?

No, aftermarket petcock installed. Like I said earlier, it ran fine before the module went bad. Where did you get that seat for your Whiplash, Johnny? that's the kind I've been looking for.

I bought it from J&P Cycles. It is a Mustang... If you are planning on Long distance riding that is not the seat for you... Trust me... LOL.

OK, here is another thing to look at as a possibility. Check to see if your ignition on that bike has the pick up coil and modual as one integrated circuit. if not, I would start to look at the pick up coil as your next possible thing that is bad. Your ignition and my ignition are different so I am shooting from the hip here..

Nah, I'm just an around-town, back-and-forth to work, kind of guy.

No, they are both one unit mounted in the nose cone. I'm pretty sure its fuel related, just gotta figure out wtf it is.

    Update:
Go figure. Cracked the gas cap, blew some air thru the gas tank vent, and it started up and ran fine. Can you say vacuum-bound?

Bad cap, if you can loosen the cap and it runs the
cap is sealing and not allowing fuel flow...
