still cant figure out yr of evo engine.any engine number greats in here

    picked up a basket case...these are numbers on engine case..below the jug#BKLL028858
    side of case #1590090112
    bottom of case#616
    have had no luck.frame is not to engine and,would love to be within a few yrs on the engine date..evo 88 1340..thanks to anyone that can help.

    It's an abbreviated serial number on engine case, my guess is it's a FXSTC(Softail Custom), that's what the BK stands for, second L would be for 1990 model year,M would be 1991, N would be '92 and so on. The numbers 028858 would be the sequential number.
    If your crankcase breather fitting is in the crankcase(bottom breather) would indicate it's pre-1992 80" Evo. Head Breathers are '93-up.
    If that doesn't narrow it down enough, the phone number HRK provided should have a definite answer for you.:)
