I have a 2004 flstci with a baker DD6 trans. when I put it in to gear there is a noise that sounds like a bottle cap hitting the floor. It gets the same noise but as a rattle when riding.

I have checked for loose things all over the bike, the only place I havent looked is inside. I was present when the trans gears were replaced ,as the mech installed the shifting forks the sound that they made when droped in to place was the same. Is it possible that the trans would still work properly with a broken shifting fork? The last time I changed the oil in the trans there was a small piece of metal that came out with the oil, it was smashed and aprox. 1/4"long ,like a penny on a railroad track. A little history, the reason for the change of gears is that i ran the trans with NO oil for apox 500 miles, I thought that it could be leftover from the orignal gears, note the only damage noted on the old gears was over heated 5th gear no other damage was noted, and trans was cleaned before the new gears were installed.

Have you talked to Baker about this? I am going to subscribe to this thread as I have been considering a DD6 for my bike. :D

There is quite a bit of adjustment on the shifter paw for drum engagement on a baker trans it a very fine adjustment top of the trany cover mustbe removed . You can download it of the baker site . How is the primary chain adjustment pull the cover on inspection plate make sure the chain is not floping around and coming in contact with the primary cover . When you engage the trany in to gear the chain slaps quite a bit .if it is loose . Good luck let us know how you make out

if you found a large piece of metal in the oil
then something may have broken, I'd get it to
the people that did the work, Baker has a good warranty
call them, and get it checked.
