Anyone going to Sturgis? We are going up next Friday for the weekend, headed back home on the following Monday.
Staying in Rapid City close to the Shopping Mall. Over all the motel cost is lower than last year. Going with some first timers.

I would love to, especially now that I am only a one day ride away, but alas, don't have the time this year. Unpacking boxes and reporting for new job has priority.....

AF, take a couple of days its worth the time. Throw a sleeping bag on find one of those wild all night campgrounds and spend a couple of days there. Then go home and rest for a day. :D

That's a really nice area around Hill City. Couple nice camping areas at Spearfish also.

We are leaving on the 29th and staying until the 3rd. I get out of there when room rates double in price.

In the past I have really liked spending more time there but being unemployed makes my spending money a little shy of being able to afford it. All ready gave up a trip to California to see the redwoods, maybe next year.
With Sturgis being within 500 miles makes it hard to not go.

I started getting the Sturgis itch a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I started a new job two months ago and I don't get vacation yet.

Next year is the 70th anniversary for the Sturgis rally. I got a couple of friends from the east coast that have started to make plans for that one.

I thought about running up for a day, but it's bad timing. I'm trying to get a bunch of stuff made for a show on the 8th and 9th. Maybe next year.

I'll probably run up there later in the month since my favorite quilt shop in the world is in Rapid City.

Hmmmm, of course I might need some fabric before the 8th...

Abby, I wonder if that's the same quilt shop in Rapid City where myself and a friend spent a long time sitting out in front waiting for our wives.

I called last Sept. for my room at BestWestern they had only 5 rooms left in all of South Dakota, and I hear full camping sites (water, electricty) are just as booked. If you can, camping is the way to go because the room I had was $260/night - normally a $99 room except for 1st week of Aug!!

Well boys and girls it is just about time to hit the road north. Just finished servicing the bikes, did a 10,000 mile service on both. We just need the weather to cooporate now. Supposed be down around 47 when we leave in the morning, hope it gets warmer and dryer than today. Breakfast in Cheyenne, a late lunch in Rapid City. Catch you all next week sometime.

During the years that I can't go to sturgis, I watch it on the web cams.

This year the web cams are much better and the refresh rate is pretty fast.
Check these out. You can choose from 4 of them here.

its kind of fun to do when the boss ain't watching.

Looks like it rained a bit in Deadwood today. Wish I was there. I like riding in the rain.
