December 13,I got up for my usual Sunday morning HOG ride, instead of 40 or more bikes, the only thing waiting for me is a lonely styro-foam cup in the middle of the parking lot I decide to venture on by lonesome and 45 minutes later I'm in SE Rockland county w/a cold mist starting to fall so I head home, figuring discretion to be the better part.... I try to select a route home that is has as little hi-way as possible, until I within 2 or 3 miles of home at which point I'm thinking a heavily traveled road is less likely to ice up! Great theory, but there's a flaw lost among the details. In order to access said hi-way (Rt17)one needs to use an access ramp to an overpass. Which at this juncture has a quarter inch of ice as a coating! I;m only doing 15 or 20 as I come up tje ramp & onto the concrete....ssshhhwwuuu!!!!!!!!BOOMP!!!ssshhhhhwwuuuuuuuu!!! 35 or 40 feet later I can't even get to my feet, the bike doesn't seem to have much damage but as I look up a LAND ROVER is sliding in slow motion directly towards me and the ol' HELL RAZOR(my bike) Fortunately,he chose to spin his steering wheel & release his pressure on his footpedal, causing him to swerve into the curb. He gets out of the car and inquires as to my condition and promptly loses his footing and joins me on the ice! We are struggling (unsuccessfully) to get to our feet when we see another car sliding up to his LR! This guy manages to avoid further entanglement, stopping his car inches from the LR. As soon as he exits his vehicle, his ass is on the pavement as well! Now the 3 of us are trying to get my bike up w/little or no success until I slide the XL-H 1200 up to the curb and using the curd as.whats the term, fulcrum? We manage to stand it up and using my feet as out-riggers I manage the bike off the ice at which point the local constabulary arrives and jumps out of his squad car to chastise me for going the wrong way down a one way street and sha-boom. One more butt first!! He gets to his feet w/the aid of his door-handle and laughingly says "Well, at least now I understand what you're doin'! I told him no report necessary ,one vehicle accident,I'm unharmed and I'll eat the cost of the bike repair. Well, wrong again buffalo breath! I got home and realized my foot was broken, I get to the emergency room and the first person I see is a HOG officer who broke HER foot leaving her house and she tells me the group I failed to hook up with had 8 people go down!!!

Good thing you wasn't ridin a full size bagger. Standin one of up on dry pavement is enough of a hassle without the ice.
Glad nothin serious came of it and Welcome to BT

    Hijacking---
Is that what we call it when we respond to one topic talking about something different? Guess we are all guilty of that.

well at least you guys aren't as uptight as those other guys at a site that shall remain nameless . i'm glad to see that ya'll have fun here! the other thing that bothered me at that site was all of the flaming that went on, it got really out of hand sometimes with all sorts of personal insults before the moderator would step in and put a stop to it. the thing about that is i bet most of the people doing the name calling wouldn't do it unless they were behind a computer screen miles out of reach from a punch in the mouth!

No flaming here except maybe after dinner at cardboards place! If you want to insult someone do it with your address and a PM.
