Does the company Progressive Suspension make best shock for ride and durability and cost?

Does anyone know if the ride quality is better on the Progressive 412 rear shock or the 440 rear shock? The 412 costs $240 and the 440 costs $470.

I need new shocks and I don't think I want the HD low profile air shock if I can find one that rides better but doesn't cost too much.

    Hey Tom:
I don't know anything about progressive but I did have Works Performance build shocks for a sportster. I paid a little over 700 for front and rear. Well worth the money. Hope this helps.

Progressive makes great suspension products & yes the 440's are even better than the 412's, but they sure are expensive. I've got Progressive suspension on both ends - 412's in the back & their springs up front - massive improvement over stock. Progressive makes shocks in several different lengths, with standard or heavy-duty springs & they suggest you contact them before you buy to get the right set-up for your particular situation. Generally if you weigh 200 lbs. or more, or ride 2-up often, you'd want the heavy-duty springs, otherwise the standard rate, but it's still better to call 1st to tell them where, when & how you ride.

recharged my shocks with shock therapy stm which is a 10w. Already had it after rebuildin my front end. Probably cant compare to progressives but much cheaper.

I took off a set of HD low profile air shocks that had at least 30K on them and put on a 10 yr old set of Progressives that I have hardly used. The ride is great cept they are 11.5 inch shocks and with the wider MU85 tire I am getting a little rubbing and I haven't even tried throwing the O' Lady on it yet, so I am sure I have to get a set of 12 o 12.5 inchers. But the ride is great and the wobble disappeared.

Now you have me thinking that maybe all I have to do is change the oil in the old HD shocks a try them again? I could try that Amsoil shock therapy that Adobo showed us. If they aren't leaking then what else could wear out?

How much oil do you think they take? And what is HTT?

Changing oil may help some... but you still have the same valving etc. The 440 uses the Ricor design http://store.ricorshocks.com/ As of 11-06 Progressive was buying the shock body from Edelbrock as they were the licensed distributor of the technology. Going from stock to 412's is like going from stock car shocks to Monroes a nice improvment but, going from stock to Edelbrock IAS shocks made a BIG difference on my F150 and a ton on my old 2KRK.

That's what I was wondering, is it worth the 200plus difference. Sounds like it is. I see now from the video how the IAS works. Very interesting.

CD, did you try these on the forks too?
