I'm thinking about swapping out my swing arm on my 86 fxr and going with with something that will give me a little (or a lot) more stability looks ect... Anybody have any suggestions? Pros and cons? Thank you

FXR's are just about the best handling Harley made....maybe just the swing arm bushings need some attention.

If'n you replace the bearings in the Rear end and the bushings . You have rebuilt the rear end. If you want to check the swingarm for cracks since yer worrying check it. Don't mean nothing else is wrong with it.
A sales add has you thinkin something is wrong.

    Here is one for you.

They might come and git my bike cause I might git behind on payments.

Thanks all.. I was just tossing it around. I replaced my stock bushings with (Sta-bo i think) super mambo jambo neopreen bushings a while back. It made a little difference but not a lot. This could get costly $$$$ by the time it's all said and done. The thing that made me consider this in the first place is.... Is this the correct swing arm in the first place on this bike? I noticed on a lot of fxrs the shocks are at a little of an angle on mine they are almost straight up and down. Is this just on the 86 or is it short swing arm off of something elts. I've just went with it. Thanks.

More Power, have you done any other research on this bike? I have found it helpful to just google the year and make of your bike and you will get a lot of hits as far as pictures, blogs and some tech information. I would defiantly check out those links that Lucifer posted because he puts out a lot of good information.

Been there done that. She suggested that I sell it "one time". I told her that I rode into her life on that bike (about ten years ago) and I just might ride out of her life on it. That's the last time she brought it up. As far as pulling the swing arm off and taking it with me goes. I would but,,,I've got another project goin on now I've got to finish. Handlebars are going up (I don't know why I'm putting apes on a fxr with a 124" S&S in it but I've always liked them. Thought I'd try them again. Anyway... one thing at a time. Thanks

Haha... let us know how apes on a FXR with a 124"SNS work out...you might be able to drag your knuckles on the ground after riding it:roflmao:
You might wanna check into these to help keep the back end from getting squirrely on ya
