Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark. Looks like the rider dragged some steel in photo 10. At that point he either paniced and straightened out crossing the lines or the bike dragged so hard it forced him to stand-up thus crossing the lines. Either case he entered the turn towards too far to the shoulder of the lane/road making him need to drift towards the outside (centerline). If he entered the turn properly from the left side (squaring it off) then diving in towards the rightside of the turn he would have had much more room for correction without crossing the lines. Waving to the photographer probably used up all of his attention to riding. Now he probably has a least a right broken hip, possibly a broken back and lots of road rash. I wonder how the photographer feels?

This is what gives bikers a bad name.

Well maybe not a "bad name" but certainly hurts our image and peoples opinions of us.

He was looking at photographer instead of road and did not get his turn set up. Then notice when he got in trouble... where his head is looking... right at the vette. Gonna ride where you look. Can't tell speed, maybe he was too fast for the curve and his skill. When he drifted left, his head should have been looking back hard to the right and laying that way.

JB, it is a good road, but lots of traffic because it gets so much publicity. There are others in the area with great curves but not so much traffic. Road Hwy 80, Devil's Whip with a buddy. He was on a fatboy that had been lowered. Drug the footboard on a sharp curve, saw him cross yellow line just like that..maybe not as far... thought dang glad no one coming

You should also check out killboy.com

Have seen him there a few times...

Following through on the pictures he should have been able to avoid that crash...Visual fixation...Look at where you want to go...He was looking at the vette not the road...MSF 101...

He didn't even apply brakes until frame 17 and like everyone has said, he was looking right at the Vette the whole time. I agree MSF 101, LOOK RIGHT, GO RIGHT. I would have never had my hands off of the handle bars on that road from what I hear about it. Talk about ruining the driver of the Vette's day too..:rant::gah::gah:

1- Paying attention to the photographer instead of the road.
2- Going into the turn a little too fast because of #1,scrapping foot pegs startled him.
3- Straightened up bike because of scrapping.
4- Target fixation on the Vette, and he hit what he was looking at.

Gotta feel bad for the guy in the vette... not meaning to play down the biker, probably hurt bad, but the poor guy in the vette had his day ruined for no reason. That video is why I stay away from the dragon alot, even though it is close... lots of other good curves without the crap...;)
