Talk about a class act

There's this guy I know but have never met in person. He dedicates his life to family, medicine, country and fellow soldiers. He asks nothing in return except respect and a fair shake. He goes to a foreign land and gives aid to his fellow warriors without complaint (well except for melted sneakers ;) ) and still presses on. He leaves home, family and security behind in order to serve his country. He never bitched, whined, complained to any of us during his entire TDY.

We sent him a couple of boxes of cookies just so he'd have something from "home" to spread around. I know the feeling a care package gives and even stale cake tastes great if it was from the land of the big BX.

So today I get a box in the mail and it's from Chris I opened it and inside was a flag flown over the hospital. It is folded in the proper triangle and included is a certificate honoring the simple thing my family did.

So, here's this guy I know and he is my friend, brother in arms and truly a class act. He didn't need to do this at all but he did. Even with the little spare time to be had He took the time and effort to get this treasure and send it to my family.

Thank you Chris, you are one hell of a class act and we owe you our thanks. This flag and certificate will soon be in a shadow box on the wall with my other memories.

    CD, Tish, Eric and Matt.

Right? He asks me for my address for a thank you card and I'm like, :wtf:. We send you stuff; all we want from you is to see you back home alive. Then I get a box with his return address, and once again I'm :wtf:. We send you stuff. You don't send us stuff. I opened it up and found the flag and certificate and started crying. I'll treasure that forever.

I've only talked to Chris on the phone a couple of times (last year when I had a slight problem getting my nursing license, which I did in short fashion) and I enjoyed our conversations very much.

As CD said "Good on ya", and very glad your back home where you belong.
