:confused:how difficult to take that cheesy emblem off the 08 ultra tank and what the heck is underneath it ? does the pinstripping continue under the emblem?

Just in case, I'd ask HD, that sounds like a can of worms you may not want to open.

Most are just stuck on with double sided tape, they don't bolt through the tank

it's easy to do with the double sided, take some dental floss and work up and down behind the emblem, once it's off clean up good with some non abrasive cleaners
remove the residue and wax did it on my 98 and put on some older school HD emblems.

HD sells tons of different emblems anyway..

the emblem is glued on with the same sticky tape as the reflectors.....if i remember right. the pin stripe is under the clearcoat, so it is protected.

a heat gun and a plastic bondo spreader will work just fine, then clean off residue with lighter fluid, it won't harm the b/c finish.

Use Goo Gone afterwards. It's be a little safer than lighter fluid. I think warming the glue would help prevent it from pulling paint off with it, but definitely, don't make it hot.

I had taken off the big fat metal HARLEY DAVIDSON lettering logo when my 07 Street Bob was custom painted, and chose the Fat Bob bar and shield logo. It looked much better, but my favorite is when the grayish white Harley Davidson lettering is actually painted on with the black tank finish. They did that for the the 03 Dyna, and now for the new Blackline softail.

    look here:
