Target Stores - What a surprise

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

'Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud
sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our
    spring recognition event.

    We received the following reply
    from the local TARGET management:

" Veterans do not meet our
area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action
groups, *** & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and
veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,
then something is really wrong at this TARGET store.
    We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

    As a follow-up, I e-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate
Headquarters and their response was the same...

    That's their
    national policy!!!

Then I looked into the company further.

    They will not allow
the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their
stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would
not allow families of employees who were called up for
active duty to continue their insurance coverage while
    they were on military service.
    Then as I dig further,
    TARGET
    is a French-owned corporation.

    Now, I'm thinking again.
If TARGET cannot support American (or Canadian) Veterans, then why should my family and I support their
stores by spending our hard earned American (or Canadian) dollars in their stores???
    And,
have their profits sent to France .

    Without the American (and Canadian)
Vets, where would France be today?

'They most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks'
    Sincerely,
    Dick Forrey
    Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know
    to let Target know
    we don't need them either!

When two of m sons were in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom OL and I did many collecting of essentials for the troops. Between church, work and neighborhood stores we sent hundreds of boxes. Target's policy came to light for us. No matter how they try and hide or white-wash it, as Chuck has reported it still stands. I love Fords. But they all have French transmissions. I found this out during Operation Desert Storm. I told my long time Ford salesman "I love you man but I'll never buy another Ford". He asked why, I told him I don't want those French b___tards to have one dollar of my money.

What a shame. They sure have short memories, don't they? I have never shopped in a Target and neither has my wife. I didn't know Fords had French trannies. I bet my '84 150 doesn't!

The french trannies started around early 90s. I was also pissed cause the 4.0 v6 in the explorers were german! Both countries bowed out of supporting us.

That Transmission plant in France was sold off
several years ago, they supply a few of Fords Transmissions
but you have to remember FORD is a USA company with international
operations and a major player selling cars in Europe,

We should want our USA companies to do well,
even overseas, it's not 1955 and the USA the only growth
    country in the world.

Not all Ford trans are made at that plant, in fact
it's main output was the C-3 a three speed
    in the Pinto.

My F150 was built, designed and assembled in the USA
are there foreign parts, sure, because Ford has
international operations. They could not survive
selling the USA alone as too many USA people buy
Japanese, Korean, and soon Chinese made cars.

F150 is built in Kansas City, keeping USA workers
employed, FORD took ZERO money from Zero

Ford will get my money from now on...
and I was a Bow Tie fan, big time...

I will say Obama changed me on that LOL

Regarding Target, the retailer came under fire improperly from a Vet that wanted money for his travelling wall memorial, he missunderstood that the store was sending him to the corporate office where they have a department that handles this, same guy started up a protest against Target saying they are against vets, not true, they give a lot of money.

As to the Salvation Army, the company simply made a rule that there are no solicitors
ever at any store, now I don't like that the SA can't have bell ringers there, but frankly they are at every supermarket in the city, wal mart, etc.

Target was running into problems with every group wanting to setup outside
their stores and being threatened with legal action if they did not let "abc group"
solicit but they let "XYZ Group" solicit, it's called discrimination and probably overkill
    on Targets part.

    However

Target has a partnership with the SA and they donated $1 Million to the SA in 2006 and run a special sales program where you can buy a special ornament for the SA and 100% of the money goes to the SA.

I buy Fords and shop at Target have no problems with it.
