I had finally got my 2007 Heritage put together about the way I wanted it. LOVED IT! I went for a little ride on March, 28 and a unlicensed driver pulled out in front of me outside of town. First brake skid mark to point of impact was just over 35 feet with me running hi-way speeds. Yep, I hit him. Me and the bike went over the car. I have 5 different bones busted in my left foot and my L1 vertebrae has a compression fracture. The bike can be rebuilt also. What I would like to say is “thank God for cows!” As I was sliding down the road using my hands like outriggers I was thinking “Man I so glad I’m wearing good gloves” sounds funny to be thinking that, but no matter the weather I always wear good gloves. First time I’ve needed them in 15 years. But thanks to cows I have no road rash above my belt. Now just another 6 to 8 weeks and I can start the rebuild. Ride Safe and remember to take the Cows along for the ride!

P.S. this picture was taken before I left to go on the ride.

glad your ok.......it is funny, sort of, of what goes through your mind when sliding down the road......when i went down, i was thinking i needed to get my arm up off the pavement cause im gonna get some road rash,,,,,,and i did get my arm up to minimize the injury...............go figure. the mind can sure work fast in bad situations, even if they last only a few seconds.............

    Raks,

Thanks for reminding us the importance of saftey. I know for me I have to keep reinforcing that fact cause a lot of times I go running around thinking that I'm too good to wreck and it is just that thought that will get me killed, but when I read stories like yours ... well you may keep me alive a few days longer, thanks.

I hope you get yourself and your ride back together soon. That is a really nice looking bike.

This is bad but as was said earlier, it could have been a whole lot worst. I hope your bike can be rebuilt but if it went over the car with you, it seems like it would have been pretty banged up. The main thing is you're OK and on the mend . Good luck with it. I hope they had insurance even if they didn't have a license.

A friend came today to help my wife take the scooter to the dealer for an estimate. So we shot a few pics. I don’t think it looks that bad. The Blonde in the trailer is my wife along with my friend and his wife. Thank God for good friends.
I was told that the other car had insurance but the Police report hasn’t been released yet as far as I know.

Thanks to another friend that I called and ask "how much would it cost and how long would it take to put wireless in my house" he said "nothing and not long, be there in a minute". he brought a router and a over the bed computer table for my laptop. He has went down his self and knows where I'm at.

Totaled, Hope not, New tins, forward controls and a complete front end and I'll be ready for Sturgis:D. hope its that easy, frame appears straight, motor appears intact, not even a scratch on the primary, pipes and air cleaner. Of course it will get the treatment and no telling what will get done because it’s a TOY!:D And it’s taken about two years to make it feel like it’s mine. And just because I’m in a pic mood, here is a pic of my old baby that got traded in on it.

Me and the bike went head first through the wreck. I did a 360 summer salt and landed mostly on my butt traveling about 100’ in the air and on the ground. The bike did a 180 summer salt mostly on the ground landed on it’s back traveling about 75’. It fell over on it’s side after it stopped sliding. Nothing on the sides was touched except where the extended FWD. controls caught the car and the saddle bag got scuffed when my buddy was loading it. The funniest thing was he used soft straps and pads to haul it to the house so he wouldn’t damage it any more. :roflmao: He is not use to hauling bikes wrecked or otherwise. Friends that go above & beyond every time! Ya got to love them!:D

And if your wondering whathappend to the seat? Well you've heard of taking a bite out of the seat. Apparently I took the whole seat and lost it in mid air. Would have been nice for the landing:roflmao:

Ouch! Glad the driver had insurance. I'm grateful I got hit by a commercial vehicle and not one of the numerous illegals in that city.

That really SUCKS. I'm glad your going to be OK. Total all depends on the value to repair costs. Hope you get it back the way you want it. Unlicensed doesn't keep from being stupid it just means unlicensed idiot. Glad the idiot had insurance. I'll bet the excuse was I didn't see him :banghead::angry:
