Riding yesterday nice and leisurely down Old Topanga Cyn. Rd. when I started around a curve about 25 mph and a guy coming up the hill from the other direction on a Sportster Target fixated on me and crssed into my lane. By the time i realized he was gonna cross the line we were only about 30' apart and there was no .way for me to go.
We collided at the foot pegs.e Talk about an explosion of pain.
I managed to pull over to the side of the road and had to sit there for a minute to clear my head and not puke.
I looked back the way I came from and could see a cross trainer laying in the road, got turned around and rode back around the curve to find the guy stopped at the side of the road. His left foot was laying on it's side and bleeding profusely. I stopped about 10' from him and managed to put down my stand and lean the bike on it.
He was asking me if I could help him but I couldn't stand on my lrft foot.
I tried to Call 911 but kept loosing the signal, all th ewhile trying to flag passing cars.
Finally, someone stopped and I told them we needed an ambulance. That person got the call through from where he stopped. Then a second person stopped and told them the guy on the sporty needed help, that he looked to me like he was gonna pass out and couldn't do anything with his bike so they went and helped him hold up the bike. No sooner did they get there to help him he collapsed. By then a couple of women had stopped and between the four of them they managed to get him off the bike and laying down at the side of the road.
After a short while the FD and LASO showed with the paramedics to take care of him and me it turns out.
I was prepared to ride home but the paramedic convinced me to let him look at my foot and once the boot was off there was no way it was going back on. So I rode in the front of the ambulance to the hospital.
Once they x-rayed my foot the told me I had two severely dislocated toes and my big toe was broken. They put me in surgery to pin the dislocated ones but then didn't have to as the popped back into place.
So I just got home a short while ago.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that, but I'm glad it wasn't worse. Sounds like the other guy might be in pretty bad shape.

Take some drugs and kick back. You're off Christmas light duty for the rest of the season.

Still have to get hold of him to find out where my bike is.

Ha! I can't believe this tow company. Talk about a total rip off.
$266. to flatbed my bike between 5 and 10 miles to their yard.
I can't help but feel that someone at the sheriffs office is getting a kickback.

That's why you need tow insurance. Saved our bacon 3 years ago when the wife's Honda trike broke down when the bikes alternator went out 325 miles from home. Triple A towed it up to a friends place in Lincoln City on the Oregon coast. First 200 miles was no charge and the 40 miles more we paid 75.00.
Wonder how much storage fee your going to pay to get it out.
The 266.00 is a rip off for sure and somebody is making some under the table bucks I'll bet.

Dug out my policy for the lawyer I hired today and it turns out I Have been paying $36 a year for towing.
Insurance adjuster just flat lied to me.
No longer matters what they say.
The lawyer will make them sit up a take notice come Monday morning.

    Thanks, glad you enjoyed them.
I've only had a camera for a couple of years and I often forget to take it with me and even take it out when I do.
I put most of my shots on the web album so I can share them with anyone who shows an interest.

    I'm a Southern Californian.
Live up in the hills overlooking the San Fernando Valley.
That Mary Peak pic is in the album from last years WCGT of the motorcycle forum on Craigslist.
Had a great time in Oregon. The WCGT was hosted by a member that lives just past the upper end of Alsea Bay on the Alsea River. Where you see the tents pitched is his west pasture he mowed down for us to camp.
We are Currently in the planning stages of the 2010 WCGT That we hope to hold in August somewhere around SoCal. Finding a Campground that can accommodate our group is proving to be more difficult than first thought.
Many that wish to attend are from the PNW and won't be able to tolerate the higher temps we live with here.

    And another episode.
I just got home from a 4 day return trip to the hospital due to an infection in my wounded foot.
I.V. antibiotics cleared it up with no problem. And I'm home for Christmas.
