This is something that I have never done but have always wanted to. Today I will be going down to the MOA and I am going to sit in a barber's chair and get a straight razor shave. Oh I forgot the hot towel as well. As of now, I am nit sure if this is something that I would do often but every now and then, why not?

I can understand why that's for sure. But still, I do think that I need to try it. :)

One of the best haircuts and shaves I ever got was in an old timey barber shop in Goldsboro,NC. It had been there so long it was now in the middle of the ghetto and the barbers were in their 70's. In the daytime they kept the curtains closed at nite they kept them open. The cliental are old retired NC tobacco farmers and how I found it. My dad went there. For a straight razor hair cut and a shave...10$..I gave them 20$ and then another 20$ on Christmas. No foo foo shampoo or hot chatty female just a straight up mans haircut. They are out of business. One day a couple thugs came in day time and robbed them and the owner operators said we're done. Still haven't found a barber remotely as awsome as that place was....changing of the old guard.

Its awsome. After the shave they would do the hot towell on the face, and trim up the haircut with a little dab of shaving cream around the edges then again with the straight edge. Good stuff. Puts the foo foo parlors to shame and half the price. I am glad to have had the oportunity to have experience an old timey cut and a shave at old timey prices.

Funny barbers and funny customers...I was only excepted because thwy knew my father. I kept my mouth shut and was respectful.

Today was such a good day. A friend, my wife and I spent 10 hours together and just hanging out laughing and just having plain ol' fun. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I still go to a old town barber shop called the Depot after a historic train Depot. When I was younger the real barber shops used to always after a hair cut wrap a hot towel around the back of your neck then apply the shaving cream and shave the back of your neck. Now they all use electric clippers and you get all those prickly hairs down your neck.
Now they have all these men's hair salons full of scantily dressed women who don't give a decent hair cut, but boy what a view.

Yes, so true. The guy wrapped the towel around my neck and did shave the hackles too. Even got a man facial.

Glad you enjoyed it JB. We have a old time barber shop at one of the local casinos, you get a glass of whiskey, a cigar, and some very well endowed women to shave you. NICE!!

Back on the early 70s I worked in Manhattan and got my hair but there. This girl would lay the chair back and shampoo my hair before the but. The hole time her push-up bra and low cut blouse had her doo hickies bouncing around mere nano inches from my face. I didn't give a dam what my hair looked like when she was done but the rest of the day was uncomfortable for me.
