The Cannonball is coming!

    The Pre-1916 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run is scheduled to run coast to coast from September, 10 to September 26, 2010. I know it's been posted before but, I just wanted to remind everyone that it is almost here so plans could be made to intercept the route and witness this historic event. I am fortunate enough to live about 3 miles from the pit stop for Stage 10 of the run. If you can’t travel to see this event at least spend a few hours reading and looking at the website.

    This web site is awesome! I'm going to spend some time looking at this after work. Nothing newer than 1915 can enter this event (race?). I never thought there where any that would be able to run this long.

    There are some nice videos in here too.

    For anyone in the southwest that is looking for a good fall run and a way to justify an intercept trip for the Cannonball. There is a rally in the mountains that draws about 20 thousand bikes at Ruidoso, New Mexico. The rally ends the day before the Cannonball gets to Clovis on September, 20.

    Well today marks the completion of stage 5 of the Cannonball. There will be 16 stages thru the run. There are a lot of good pics and daily run reports on the website. This information is kept very current for those who want to follow the run.

    As for me I’m off to Ruidoso NM in the morning for the Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally and will return Monday to catch the arrival of the Cannonballers at the end of stage 10.

    End of day 7.... there are some great videos on the website. John Szalay had to make a new rod from a caterpillar forklift engine for his 1912 single.
