I have in my head the perfect exhaust for my Sporty. I came across this company thay sounds like they have the experience and the knowledge to build a good pipe. Anyone have any experience with the or know anyone else who will do custom work? Welcome to Hackerpipes

the best pipes i have come across is when i started making them myself. the first set (duals) was ok. then the second one i made was a 2 into 1 came out even better. its really not that hard once you get started.go to a pipe shop get some u bends and some j bends and a large pipe cutter and a file. ok your in business. if you cant weld well i cant weld either. but im sure you know some that can.

How about a picture of your work? I'm sure the simple part is making them, the hard part is making them work well.

The best street/road exhaust for your '04 XL1200R is the stock setup, except for replacing the mufflers with quality aftermarket slip-ons, which include using the crossover (also serves as a mount). You can target a given rpm range with different aftermarket or custom-made exhaust setups & get more power in that one range (typically 1500 rpm wide) - but ONLY in that range and at the cost of power everywhere else.

That's been proven on the dyno, in the 1/4 mile, in the measured-mile, stoplight-to-stoplight, on the highway, at Bonneville, etc., etc., etc. so many times it's not even a matter of argument. On any Sportster since 1969 (1st year w/crossover pipe), stock pipes with crossover & slip-ons like Cycle Shack make a wider powerband & will outperform any aftermarket exhaust there is, idle to redline.

Now if you tend to ride in just one given rpm range, you can get a system which works better there, so like any other modification, consider when, where & how you ride before choosing the product. Or if looks/sound is more important to you than performance, go with what you like - what someone else likes you may not like at all.
