Looks like the ride to the wall next August is gonna happen. Started gathering my gear already so looks like were going. I still want to figure out a southern route back working my way over to Texas. Their wanting to leave around the 5th but I would be traveling on my own coming back. Hope some of you guys might be around then, anyone up for a visit then. How hot does the weather get in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas that time of year, Hot and humid I'm assuming.

:D Abby is a lot younger to. But I would still do it. Gotta work on more plans. Taking a 2 man tent, sleeping bag and a single air mattress with me. They got any camp grounds down around Chucks place or motels.

Just found out tonight that the main guy, Frank who is the one who initiated going to the wall this year now has kidney failure. Don't know how bad or to what extent yet but just know if he doesn't make it to the wall this year he'll never make it. He has more health issues than you can ever imagine. He has Diabetes, seizures, heart problems along with many other issues. We always have to watch him when ever he is on a trip with the rest of us.
Kinda of got me worried about him and that's why the rest of us are going with him.
One year when we were all in Sturgis and we were riding to Devils Tower he started riding erratic and I had to ride up beside him and reach over and grabe the bars. Got him stopped and off his bike and then stayed with him until he was OK. Think it was his heart cause I had to give him his heart pills. He was fine the rest of the trip but the wife and I rode back home by ourselves. Frank is in his mid to late 50's and a heck of a nice guy. But we may have to leave him at home, not sure he will be able to make the trip.
Frank was a Marine during the end of the Vietnam War.

i wear a cooling vest......one other thing, if ya gonna camp in the south, beware or fire ants, if enough bite you they can kill you. not unusual for them to bring down a horse!!!! one or two hurt like hell but not dangerous......if ya stir the mound with a stick, thousands of them come out to protect it.......temps and humidity usually run in the same numbers, so 85* feels like 95.......sunscreen!!!!!!!!!!

We don't have em up here and glad we don't. Cool vest, hmmm got a cool tie that you wear around your neck. I've taken a tee shirt or jean jacket and soaked them in water, works for awhile and feels good.
