    Sort of reminds me of a song I wrote back in the 80s called "Bit 'n' Pieces", (talkin' blues style ala Woody Guthrie). Here it is for your amusement:

    I was walkin' down the street and to my utter dismay,
    I noticed everything started fadin' away.
    My teeth came loose as I was blinded by the sun,
    My feet they smelled and my nose did run.

    Chorus: Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think I'm gonna be the next one in line.

    So I went to the body shop lookin' for a deal,
    And I knew they could see how bad I must feel.
    They said I need a valve job and a jump start,
    Said they're gonna give me a brand new heart!

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think real soon I'll be feelin' fine.

    Next I got a liver, and then a new spleen,
    And I gotta gall bladder all shiny and green.
    They put a plastic bone in my sacroiliac,
    They said as I was leavin' that I would be back for more

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think I'm gonna make 'em mine all mine.

    As time went on I found this was no joke;
    I kept comin' back whenever somethin' was broke.
    Now I got so many parts and so many different seams,
    I'm beginnin' to see what all of this means:

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think I'm gonna be the next Frankenstein!

    But now I'm kinda lonely and I can't find a mate;
    I scare 'em all away with my stitched up pate.
    I'd like to find a woman who's a little like me,
    But she'd have to undergo major surgery!

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think she's gonna be the next one in line.

    We'd have to trim away the pouches, melt away the fat,
    Get a lip-o-suck, and that's the end of that.
    Remove all the cellulite from her wavy hips,
    A collagen injection for her ruby, red lips!

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it take as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think pretty soon she'll be lookin' fine.

    To live a long life would be wonderful indeed;
    We oughta last forever, my girl friend and me.
    If she breaks my heart, I'm gonna pay it no mind,
    'Cause I'll go lookin' in the body shop until I find the right

    Bits 'n' pieces, pieces 'n' bits,
    That's all it takes as long as it fits.
    Bits 'n' pieces, one at a time,
    I think we're gonna be around a looooooooong, long time.

    (this song was copywrited in 1988)

    I hear ya. I owned a cherry 68 Charger RT 440 Magnum 6 Pak in 1973 - 75 410 locker rear dark metallic green with white bumble bee stripe. Recently married and then the gas crisis hit. Driving to work with it was killing us. Odd - even gas rationing was the nails in the coffin. Real sorry I had to sell it.

    I hope we never see gas rationing again. The Charger was one of the great muscle cars, I remember . . .
