Rode that rode 3-4 times now and Hwy 299 above it is another fun road to ride. Off 299 there is a road that goes up over the top between Oregon-Cal. (open in summer only) that is really a great road, comes out in Cave Junction. Very cool place to eat in Eureka to is the Somha Cookhouse.

Yeah but what bike would you suggest
to ride it on, a Street Glide or Road Glide, maybe
a Victory? I'm thinking about maybe a Triumph Thunderbird...

Not to put anyone on the spot but Hot Rider and I are now seriously considering meeting up with another member of the forum before the "unofficial meet and greet" in SD next summer, then from this area, we ride together and head to SD. But I will have to confirm this, shouldn't be an issue.. I hope????

:rolleyes:Sheesh, I'm not shy - I'm the other member. And though I'm 400 miles from Eureka, a plan is to ride there...amongst other places.

If folks wanted to roll through (Fallon area of Nevada), I have some room for guests. Even more for tent or bag campers.

That road has lots of turns in it. When my wife first got her trike we took a trip down the coast hwy 101 in Oregon then into Calif through the Redwoods which is also a beautiful ride. After spending the night in Eureka we rode that rode which takes you back to I-5. She said she built up her muscles that day with all the corners. We then went up I-5 to 299 and then back over the pass to Cave Junction. Was a great 4 day trip. You will enjoy it Red.

Ha-ha-ha! I used to live near Mount Shasta City (take hy. 97 east to Tennant, Cal.) and we'd go to the coast all the time on those roads - though I didn't have a bike back then. They're pretty exciting even in a cage, and the scenery is breathtaking. There is a roadhouse on 97 where our band used to play on weekends and you could buy a tee-shirt there that says, "I survived hy. 97". Lots of logging trucks on that road - bikers beware!

Thanks Red for finding this. It was originally posted in a different thread but this works just the same.
