Anybody herd anything about Thunder Max? I've got a 2006 Road glide with a 113 with a race tuner. Due to the gas we are forced to run when it gets warm (I live in the desert) I have the pre detonation blues. PING. PING. PING. = OUCH. OUCH .OUCH. Will this thing solve all my problems? Thanks

Tune it with race tuner software using lower octane fuel watch timing retard graph and pull a few degrees out where it's pulling timing out now

ECM pulls back timing but if you pull off say 2 degrees where you see it pulling back itay fix OT for you

Call thunder-Max.com and talk to Pete in sales or Randy in service.

You will have to have bungs installed in yer pipes. There is a section on Youtube on how to drill, measure and put them in, or you can git Header pipes for a 07 bike.
I just got another one after I got my 2011 Limited.
    Its doing a good job.
    Also have a buddy with a Thunder-Max on a 2010 SE SG.

Also realize you can't use the TBW thunder-Max on yer bike.

I refuse to take my bike to the HD dealer to have it dynoed. I've had a sert and wasn't happy with it.

So I can use one of these with a race tuner? I herd someplace or other (probably the dealer) that I had to buy a power comander to run this. I'm starting to get exited here. My pinging problem may be a thing of the past.

If you have a laptop you can tune anything and everything with the sert - shop e-bay for sert cable set/program! Your sert has a 15min ride recall feature that allows you to see the timing and the exact moment of the ping and advance or back out as needed! The sert doesn't use a "map" like other tuners where as it re-programs your ecm and isn't a piggy back set up!Like HRK said it is a slide on a graph to adjust your timing thus stopping pre-detonation or "ping"!
Price wise the TM is a good alternative to the sert but not if you already have it on the bike!

You don't have a Piggy Back Unit like you do with the Power Commander. You completely replace the ECM and you have Wide Band 02 sensors. And you don't have to have it dynoed.
I have had about 5 diferent kinds of tuners over the years .
You can not beat a Thunder-Max. :gah:

If you have the SERT you can tune with laptop like TTS Mastertune. Same thing. No need to buy a $1000 ECM system.

If you have a race Fueler (little black box) add on then you can't tune it

Find a SERT tuner or consider a pop on power commander from fuelmotousa.com talk to Jamie

TMax is good no doubt but not worth the entry price especially if you have SERT = Screaming Eagle Race Tuner

I haven't seen most people, little on anyone be able to take a laptop and tune a sert worth a dang or a TTS mastertune which is a upgraded sert.
Most people like myself wouldn't know what to do even if they got the program for the sert opened up.
Why when one of the most IMPORTANT things on yer bike is the Tuner.
Take a chance and play with it.
Why take a chance and burn yer motor up.
Everybody tries to always cry about the money for something to tune their bike, when with a EFI bike its one of the most important things you can do to it.
If you can't do something to the tuner, leave it STOCK and ride it or take it to the dealer.

Me to even if got it opened up I'd be lost in space. If I could figure out a sert I would not be a truck driver. This is the third fuel injected bike I've had and the second one I've had pinging problems with. The first I left stock,,, no problems there.. Anyway.. I've tried the power commander (twice, I like pain) and the sert seems to do a better job. This thing slices and dices? no piggy back? It replaces the sert? no stealer dealer dyno?. I would just call TM but don't want to be sold somethin before I know a little about first.

There was a master tech at a hd dealer
He explained that most dyno men who opened up the old sert was lost because the program was so big
And a bike needs to be under a load to tune

That's where the sert and the 15min memory feature comes in - you hook it to the bike and go for a ride! You do have to have a little computer savvy but it's not rocket science. The program will show you the entire 15mins it has 8 tabs you open at the top for rpms,timing,air/fuel etc and you can adjust right from there. They even give you the procedure to retard the timing for ping and a reset feature that sets entire thing for high performance or fuel savings.
I'm a dumb ol truck driver too, the manual and program are very user friendly.

If you can find somebody that knows how to tune with it, which is hard to find. And most dealers leave it a little lean because of the EPA.
But it runs a program and can't change very much. It runs on narrow band sensors or the new bikes Lamda sensors.

Make changes to yer bike and you need to have it redynoed.
