Can Somebody help me how to adjust the timing on my 1200 Sportster?
The Engine is pinging under full throttle and runns sometimes longer when i switch the Ignition off.
It is a el Ignition Module fixed in.
I see in the middle of the Cylinder the screw under there the crankshaft is to see . If i connect my Timinglamp on Cyl 1 (back one) then i see with the engine runnig 2 points, but where exactly have they to be????

    Thanks for any help

I believe that the timing should be checked on the front cyl, not the rear-one. Regarding pinging, it could be caused by a lot of things. For example, low octane gas, running lean, pipes, ignition module, etc. My bike ('99 Fatboy) was pinging as a result of lean conditions and poor performance pipes, and it took me a long time to find the problem.

    Which Cylinder

    Thanks for your answer.
I tought it have to be the back one because i cant see the two points on the Crankshaft when i connect the front one. And the one (maybe) the fit the el Module made two marks with color on the moduleplate and the cover and when i bring this marks exactly to each other then i have with the running engine the two points on the Crankshaft nearly straight in the middle. That made me belive that it is the back one....
