Torque wrench question..

    If when using a torqu wrench with an adapter to go from 1/2" drive to 3/8" drive, does this affect the torque ratio or no? Will the setting remain the same regardless of the adapter?

    What about when using a dogbone adapter? Would that change the torque ratio?

    It will be off and depends on how critical it is to what your torquing. There may be a chart available.

    I used it because I missplaced the socket for my rocker cover ,& had the 1/4 in right there worked just fine & no leaks

    Its for the cylinder head bolts. There's no way to get a torque wrench on them. A socket head will not fit, not enough space around the bolts. Only a shaved box end wrench will fit. Therefore the need for a dogbone adapter or something custom made that attaches a box end wrench to a torque wrench somehow.

    I still have the cut off 9/16 wrench I made for my shovel , you can try tighting on something else & feel the pull in your arm ,& then do the jugs bolts , I never had a leak on my shovel doing it this way

    Or use your torque wrench with a dog bone and test the torque settings and then compare how far off it is when the torque wrench is set up with out the dogbone. That way you'll have a better idea as to what torque to set it at when using the dogbone on your heads. Good luck.

    When using a torque wrench is it best to hold at the middle of the handle, at the end of the handle or does it not matter?

    When you say "handle" if you mean hand grip, anywhere there is where I hold them...usually your hand fills the grip area...same as you use a ratchet
