After seeing a friend of mine at Sturgis with a broken tour pack lid because his tether broke causing the lid to flop over and break off at the lid and the lid falling off.
His top lid was broken clear across the lid leaving the hinges partially attached to the bottom section. We had to bunggie the lid down. I decided to purchase the solid lid tether. Won't break off causing this. His lid with one color cost him over 400.00 to replace.

Neighbor put on the retractable one, I saw no need it allows the lid to
lean over even further, that looks like it should be sturdy..

Not exactly the same thing but what can I do about a saddlebag latches? They are getting a little stiffer and don't open or close with the same ease as they once did. I did put some oil on the hinges and springs but it doesn't seem to be helping too much. Thanks.

Not sure if I would oil them as oil attracts dirt. Might want to remove them and give them a good cleaning. Maybe then a little silicone lube on the hing part.
