Trying to install a tach on my 05 softale deluxe carb,
it seems that HD never included a tach wire in the harness of the 05 softale deluxe ,the tach installation says to connect green wire from the tach to negative terminal side of coil there are no terminal on the coil & the reb and blue wire to the positive terminal or other switched 12 volt source again no terminals on the coil and then black wire to ground , then i was told because the 05 model is a single fired ignition to get the tach adapter , now the adapter has 4 wire leads 2 gray 1 green 1 black
The installation for the adapter says to connect the gray wires to the negative side of the coil the green wire to the tach input the black wire to ground.
now this is were i am a little confused so and help out there would be greatful on installing this tach again the 05 model does not have a pink wire under the dash to connect a tach to.
    Thanks

    Softail Deluxe Tach

I recently changed my speedometer on my 05 Softail Deluxe to the nostalgic speedo-tach combination that Harley makes. It is a simple remove the plug connection on the old one and just plug in the new one. Works fine. Hope this helps.
