Turn Signals gone wild

The turn signals on my 05 Electra Glide have a mind of there own.
Sometimes I turn the left signal on and the emergency flashers go on, other times it works fine. It will also do the same with the right signal.
Has anyone had this happen and know what may be the cause ??

The first place I'd look is under the clutch perch clamp and the front master cylinder clamp for a pinched wire. If you have your wiring inars you could have chaffing where the wires exit the center of the bar.

bro-inlaw had a rear changed last year and this summer up in estes park his started doing the same thing, hard wired the tail came on home found wires that run under fender started rubbing on tire and crossed them, new harness and waalaa. reaffixed in clamp so it wouldn't happen again, and yes it was the same size tire and suspension is good. it came out of clamp, dealer clamied fault and supplied harrness.

Still having problems with signals, I have checked wiring between rear wheel and fender and all wires in the perch and bars . Anyother Ideas out there. I hate going to the dealer.

i rode with a buddy of mine late last fall.(06 softail deluxe) his rear blinkers kept comming on as if he were turning, but he kept going straight. i stopped him and he knew this was happening-he said it was something to do with his new alarm system screwing up! talk about an accident waiting to happen. people were probably chewing him out for not turning that day! bill

good point chuck I had that happen on a machine before took me 5 days to happen upon it, might even swap the flasher relay with another too. get out your schematic and find where your wires start at the flasher unit and follow them to where the power seperates from left and right you should find a cross wire shorting to the other circut, check the wire placement to macke sure your not powering up the flasher circut inadvertantly. is the flasher the correct one, did you install led lights,

All the lights are stock. The problem just got worse, I went for a short ride last night and the turn signals were still acting up. I would turn the left signal on and the flashers would come on. As I was pulling in the driveway I lost all power to the signals, spedo and tach ??

Do you have a manual on your bike...a wireing diagram would help you now since you lost power to signal,speedo and tach....good luck....

Don't know if you have found your problem, but I had a similar experience with my 2003 Softail.

I had a look in my workshop manual and found out that there is a heap of wire connectors behind the tail light. Remove the 2 screws and the light assembly moves out far enough to see the wiring behind, mounted on a plate. The wire connectors are for the 2 indicators and the stop and tail light and when I removed a couple of them I found that one of the pins (which are quite small) had corroded and broken.
Then I noticed that the two holes where the wires come through the back of the mudguard are quite large and there is nothing stopping moisture from entering this enclosed area, hence the corrosion. Seems that when I was washing the bike I was being too fastidious and hosing up under the mudguards, as you would. That together with riding when it's wet would allow water into the back of the tail light mounting.
I took it to the dealer and complained about this poor design. I was out of warranty, but they replaced the backing plate and fixed the problem.
After that I sealed off the 2 offending holes and hey presto, I hope it helped.
Just having bought a new 08 Road King I removed the tail light and the 2 holes are still there, but I noticed the connection pins are coated in some sort of waterproof gel stuff.
Will be interested if anyone else has had this problem.
