As you may have noticed Bike Talk is undergoing a face lift. Over the coming days there will be many changes to our forum and improvements that we hope you will enjoy. Some functionality may be unavailable or not immediately found but we are working to improve the experience here.

Coming Soon or in the works:
New image gallery and a personal "Garage" for each member to show off their bike.
    New ways to share information.
A faster forum and improved search.
    And much more!

Note that some members may need to rebuild their signatures and avatars but we are looking into improvements in that area as well.

I like the fact you get put to the first unread thread if you've reply to one too.

Also need to set it up so the most recent post shows up first otherwise you have to go clear to the end to find it.

I haven't looked but isn't that something the user controls in Settings.

EDIT: Never mind. Not in this software. Just checked.

Do you mean you'd want the post at the top of the threads?
If you click a link from the new-post or forums page, it should go to the first unread post of a thread.

Yep at the top right of the thread when you open it is a button that
says Go To First Unread, click it and you are transported via electronic
microwaves through the milky way and appear at the newest post in that
thread, It's so fast Scotty was afraid he'd burn up the dilithium crystals...

    Kirk out...

The old system would show the last post on top so one does not have to scroll down.

yeah but if there were multiple posts before the last post
that you hadn't read then you'd have to scroll down past some posts
to get to the first last post you hadn't read before the last post.

Was it like this screenshot with the hybrid mode up top above the actual thread?

No, one could simple make it so all posts in a thread would show up on top. You didn't have to hit a button marked go to first post every time. It was set up so when ever you logged on and opened a thread the last post was always on the top. Was a lot easier.

OK, so it is probably me, but can't figure out how to put a signature picture back on from hard drive, only see how to do it from an URL.

Working to get things in order.
    • Tapatalk fixed 8/12. If you have the site saved on your phone it may be trying to find the old location. You might need to delete and reconnect if you are still having trouble. My phone is working, your mileage may vary.
    • Signature images - I may need to install an add-on to handle the image upload. I think the default is to use an image url. As of right now it requires the image be saved elsewhere (photobucket, flickr, etc) and then insert a link to where it is hosted. Image handling is still a work in progress.
    • First unread message or last post first - I think this was an older modification to the former software. I need to see if there is an add-on similar for this software that can be set per user. I never had my preferences set to that but if its useful to others I'll add it to the list to get done. UPDATE: I think I found an add-on product to make this work. I just need to test it.
    • Regarding logging off, you can typically just navigate away from the site or close your browser. Logins automatically timeout after a certain amount of inactivity. But yes, hovering over your name in the upper right will give you not only a way to log out but links to other useful tools.
For those who haven't tried it yet, the new Showcase is a place to show off your bike and projects. I will probably add other categories but for now I wanted to get it rolling so feel free to add your bike. When loading a picture of your bike there are additional tabs to include information about specs, custom work, accessories, and your own image gallery to post up as many pictures as you like. You can go back and edit your showcase as well.

I will keep an eye on this thread and keep updating everyone as the site progresses. Thanks for hanging in there and being patient with the upgrades.
