V and H Longshots heat shield

    :confused: My heat sheilds are slipping. I fix them and after a few rides the separate and I have to adjust them again. Anyone got an idea on what I can do to stop this?
    I should have gone with HK's oh well.

    What's slipping, the clamp? Did you use any locktite on it? I don't know if you can use locktite on the heat shields, but that will keep the clamp from backing off. just a thought, hopefully someone else will chime in.

    gumby, if it's the clamps coming loose, there's something wrong with the clamp's them self's , unless one side of the little holder they fit through has a broken weld on one end , the clamps are the same as hose clamps for a car/truck , so any auto part's house will have them

    Unfortunately not all clamps are of the same quality. Almost all heat shields use a worm drive clamp, but some use a thinner or softer strap that can lift away from the screw threads. Because it is the strap slipping off the screw, using locktite on the screw may not fix a bad clamp. If using a replacement clamp try to get one that is made of stainless steel. You could then have the new clamp spotted onto the back of the shield.
