I put a set of V&H longshots and put on a screaming eagle air cleaner set up.Had the local Harley shop reburn the chip. So far so good, this was in late November or early Dec. rode the bike several times since then no problems. Well about two weeks ago I started the bike up and let the oil circulate and the engine warm up since I hadn't rode it for about a week, well noticed the rear exhaust shield and muffler where it attaches to the header pipe turned blue. I cleaned the blue off and went for a ride this time didn't let it set and the rear pipe turned blue again. Anyone else having these problems with V&H pipes ? Or is it my bike needs the chip reburnt ? It is a FLSTCI fuel injected. Can't figure why all of a sudden it did this.

i would be more inclined to think a tuneing problem over a product problem...as it did it in such a short time.

sounds like it is burning to rich. Doubt there is anything wrong with the pipes.

Actually the pipes would be turning blue from a lean condition. I'd check for any intake or exhaust leaks on that particular cylinder. Make sure that you used a new exhaust gasket on the header when you mounted the pipes.
