What are the basics on adjusting the valves on '01 harley? I did a search but came up with not a thing.

    Thanks for any help,

On a stock bike, the pushrods are not adjustable. If you have adjustable pushrods installed, the adjustment depends on whether it has coarse or fine threads.

You always adjust the valve lash with the lifter on the heel or lowest point of the cam. I prefer the bottom and then adjust style over contact and add x turns.

Yes, its a stock '01 DYNA, but the rocker boxes are making a matallic sound, if it was a car, I would say rocker arm adjustment.

    Thanks for the post.

Some valve noise is normal. Long pushods, fast cam ramps and a roacker box that acts like a drum all increase the noise some. As long as one is not tapping like a collapsed lfter, it's normal.

Down here in sunny Tucson a lot of people run straight 50WT in the summer to quiet the valve train down some.

I use 50WT ROYAL PURPLE synthetic myself.
