Tomorrow, I leave heading down I-5 to Southern Oregon to meet up with the Vietnam Traveling wall. Myself and several others have been chosen to represent our HOG chapter and the Vietnam Veterans, who will be escorting the wall to Lincoln Memorial in Portland. There will be a weeks long worth of ceremonies for Vietnam vets and their families plus anyone who wants to come. We will be reading the names of those from Oregon and Washington who died fighting for freedom during the Vietnam War.
They will be giving out the warriors medals on next Saturday so I will finally be getting this medal.
When I returned back to the States I flew into San Francisco after almost loosing my life just a few days before in DA Nang during a rocket attack and then having our plane shot up when taking off from DA Nang the next day to being spit on when I got off the plane in San Francisco by a women and her young son. Yea, its time.

Its taken a long time for this country to finally say thanks and welcome back and its been long over due.

    Welcome Home

First Marc welcome home and thanks for your service to our country. And since I won't be here Memorial Day...Thanks to all on the list that served or are serving. No matter what a persons beliefs are, thier ability to express those beliefs are only there because our men and women have sacrificed and paid with thier blood for that ability. And it is a travesty that the welcome homes and thank you's are so late in coming. But each Veteran should know that for every scumbag that was spitting on a soldier, there were thousands of folks that appreciated your efforts....and still do.

    Ride Free......

a long over due THANK YOU

Marc, There’s no way we, civilians, can thank our Vets for their sacrifice, especially those who served in Nam. I was a couple of years shy of being able to serve personally but my Dad served in WWII, Korea, & Nam. I grew up an Army brat and to this day cannot understand those who do not honor the Viet Nam Vets. I could care less what there personal feelings are about the war but they need to understand they owe there freedom to every US Solder serving now and especially all who have served in the past. I wish I could give the heifer that spit on you her just rewards. I can’t so please allow me this: I Salute you friend, and Thank you form the bottom of my soul. God Bess you and yes it is long over due, Thanks

Well, the Vietnam wall is here in Portland at Lincoln Memorial. It was a grueling ride down and back in some of the worst rain you can imagine. I even saw a small Tornado touch down between Salem and Woodburn OR off of the I-5 freeway. That is very rare to see or even have a Tornado in Oregon.
The rain unfortunately stopped a lot of bikers from making the trip. We had a get together at D&S Harley in Phoenix, Oregon just outside Medford off I-5 in Southern Oregon. The train started at 6 AM Tuesday morning with the Semi-truck carrying the wall up the I-5 freeway to Portland, approx. 300 miles. It really sucks big time with all that extra rain gear on, can't see, bikes up beside you, trucks spraying the hel8 out of you and rain pounding you, thank god CD for those flip face helmets. I kept saying to myself, it ain't about me its about all those guys who's names are written on the wall, who didn't get to come home. That made all the hardships worth it. :)

I fear the same malcontent is brewing about our soldiers now days, but I don't see any way it could be as bad as it was during Vietnam. Anyone who serves deserves the respect of those who didn't, not contempt. Weren't for the ones who served, none of us would likely be here and if so, it sure wouldn't be a free country. We'd all be speaking German or Japanese and Mexico would have the illegal immigrant problems.

Just for your information, the Traveling Wall will be here in Houston July 7-9, at Dignity (?) memorial. I think it's near the Veterans Memorial area. Not to sure.
