Pretty assume, reminds me of the pictures when MT Stain Helen's blew up, killed over 100 people. Buried some cities in ash, sent rivers across I-5, tearing out bridges, caused a lot of damage. Were planning a trip up there pretty soon and I'll be sure to get lots of photos.

It washed down the rivers and they had to dredge for years on the rivers and the bigger Columbia river to clean out the channels. The forests lay like Lincoln logs in rows where the force of the volcano blew them over. Hundreds upon hundreds of square miles of trees down in all directions. Many are still there. The bad part was the massive destruction of the wildlife. Elk and deer herds were totally wiped out. St Helen's is about 40 miles from me as the crow flies and we cleaned ash from the house and cars. The rain would wash the ash into the house gutters turning it into almost like cement.
