The stator recently went bad on my 2000 Ultra Classic. When I purchased a replacement stator at my local HD shop the parts guy said that the voltage regulator would go out soon. Has anyone had any experiences such as this??? I drove the bike until it quit with the bad stator.

The local dealer here says the same thing that 9 times out of 10 when they do a stator the VR is not far behind, so they do both at the same time.

My stator went out and I ran the same VR, started having electrical problems with the ignition cutting out, even with different ignition boxes, S&S IST and Crane HI-4tc, I went on and replaced the VR without solving the problem, finally ended up being a faulty ignition switch.

All of these could have been compounded by the stator going out. Who knows. I've heard it both ways and tend to agree with the ride with the old VR until it shows failure. Test the batter and see if it's charging properly, if so why buya new $100 part, maybe just dealer profit padding
