Of course you could simply say they already have a water cooled engine

Interesting . . . but IMHO the radiator somehow takes away from the bike's aesthetics.

True,But there's no denying the advantages of water cooled engines.Just gotta be able to hide ugly radiator.

I don't see anywhere else to put it except maybe underneath the motor and tranny. Also, I think it'll catch a lot of bugs up front like that. I wonder if they have a fan?

The reason H-D is looking at a water cooled motor is because it (Twin Cam) can't meet EPA emission standards for 2015 with just air/oil cooling. This IS going to happen soon, with a touring model leading the way. Victory is in the same boat, but is way behind in r&d plans to make the switch before the mandate.

H-D crossed this threshold with the V Rod over 10 years ago in anticipation of the EPA regs. They have no choice but to re-design and I think it's way overdue. You've heard lots of folks complain about modern changes like fuel injection and electronic controls......wait till they see the water-cooled bikes.

People have been crying for more power for decades. Most of the changes H-D has made to the 45 deg. v-twin has been metallurgical to increase power and reliability. They've been very successful so far. But more power makes more heat, and there lies the problem.

You can be sure that a radiator will be used on a touring model soon. I don't think it will be ugly or obtrusive since H-D goes to great pains to make new designs look clean and discreet. Radiators will be up front like everybody else's, but maybe not as big.

I am not interested in a Water Cooled Harley. Why mess a good thing up by water cooling it.
Ever felt the heat off a water cooled motorcycle ? They have to wrap plastic around it to keep it from burnin you.

    This subject starts every year.
Honda has water cooled out there. So you don't have to wait.

I'm thinkin your right. Just seems inevitable to me. PLEASE H-D make it a 45 deg. and somehow keep that sound! E.F.I.was innitially of great concern to traditionlists(still is to many) but has proven to be a great improvement. Anti-lock breaks also.
