i have talked about this before, but while riding yesterday, i noticed i was doing an awful lot of wavin, dont know if it was the weather, maybe it was just more bikes on the road than normal, or a combanation of both.
but i have noticed, with my sceintific way of information gathering, that there are 3 types of waves. the first wave, is the arm down by you side, hand out, like whats up, i see ya. the second wave is the peace sign, just off the grip, it says hey, i noticed ya. the third is the head knod, and it counts as a wave, says i see ya ,but i aint letin go, i need to shift, or watch traffic.

me i wave to everybody, that waves to me. even to the cagers, lots of those people wavin to yesterday. or mabye the cagers were'nt wavin, maybe they were pointing.......smirkin

my one buddy he never waves, he's to cool. as for me somtimes i feel like forrest gump, i'm over here..............
    you'll have a great day.....

I dunno, I wave to everybody, even the ricers. Usually arm down, low and away, (like a fast ball), peace sign or open palm. The only wave I usually give to the cagers is the "you're number one" sign. You know, single finger, held high so they can see it.......:roflmao:

i wave back to anyone who does to me. it's only good manners. We as a group have bad enough press so we as a group have to change the public perception about us , no one else will do it.:biker:

I give most everyone the 2 down wave, which often turns into the one finger salute when some one is too stuck up to at least nod. It's mostly the Gold Wing and 1%s with tude. The crotch rockets I don't bother with. MOst of them youngsters are way to stuck up to wave to a Harley.

I seem to have to deal with more idiots in my cage than on my bike, thank god.

I try to acknoledge all bikers in one way or another, CHP and local Cops too, we're all people.

Always wave to kids, makes their parants wonder if there kids will grow up like us when the kids tell fond stories about the guy on the motorcycle that waved at them.:)

"Acknoledge" does include the "middle finger solute", just to be clear. Almost always in response to someone that clearly dissapprover of motorcycles. They are just too dumb to ever understand that there oppinion is not the correct one all the time.:roflmao:

I usually don't get the wave from the rice riders but occasionally I get dont get a response from other Harley riders....about 90% of the time I can tell when the bike approaching me is American or not, & Im thinking they just cant tell Im riding a Harley. My daughter tells me Im a motorcycle snob because I always point out how the rice bikes are cheaper than Harley-Davidson's....I think I've earned that after riding *** products for many years & knowing the difference in the quality...I always find it amazing when rice riders talk about how much cheaper & better their bikes are than Harley but try their hardest to make them look JUST LIKE A HARLEY! Anyway I'm getting off on a tangent here, so I'll get off my soap box...See you guys on the road !!

I usually give the down-low wave. If they act like they are too cool for a wave, I wiggle my two middle fingers like I want to tickle their nads and it freaks them out :roflmao:

I always try to wave , sometimes I miss one look at the young road side sites. What I found is the ones that don't wave are the first ones to ask for directions when you stop for a drink.I live in a tourist area, the must figure old bike ,road weary looking dude ,must know where he's going, little do they know most of my time on the road I'm just as lost as they are,I've ended up on my fair share of gravel roads to know

I give two-fingers-down as "We're kin with two wheels on the road" to most riders.

Two up for V-twin riders if I note the bike's engine config in time. It ain't no peace sign to me - and actually was the "Victory" sign from WWII - but I'm not gonna fight about it! :) Did enough fighting for folks to have the right to free speech, even though I am too often not thrilled to hear 'em babbling their ignorance.

Funny how it's changed over the years. I remember 30 years ago it was a fist thrust up...maybe that was too scary. It did bring my hand further from the grip and shift my center-of-gravity more than I like - so I guess I prefer today's salutes.

I WAVE AT EVERYONE ON A BIKE EXCEPT THE RICE BURNERS, UNLESSS THEY WAVE FIRST, SEEMS THAT MOST OF THEM WANT TO DO WHEELIES WHEN THEY ARE AROUND HARLEYS, REMINDS ME OF A APE STANDING UP THUMPING HIS CHEST, MAYBE INSECURE?

    LIVE EASY, RIDE HARD:cheers:

When you're riding a sportbike, you're leaning forward putting a little weight on your forearms and hands. It's not as easy to just pull a hand off the grip to wave as it is on a cruiser where the majority of your weight is on your butt. Just food for thought.

I had what seems like a rare event in that a motorcycle cop waved at me the other day. Some wave when I wave at them, but this cop waved at me first.

I have had bike cops wave before but had one give me a sturn warning the other day @ approx. 65/70 mph. Just left the kwicky mart some where between sacramento and SF {in my dodge this round} keeping my eyes peeled for the 680 exit, been running for about 15 or so hours when there was a knock at the door, I about made a sun roof, Rolled down the window so he could tell me that we wear seat belts in this state son! I still in bewilderment acknowledged and he sped off. didn't have the strap on for the first time all trip and this guy sees through the tint. thats being observant in my book.
