i live out in the boondocks on a dirt road. Thick forest and pasture in the front, no neighbors to speak of on the immediate right or left for at least 2 football fields away distance and then only one neighbor. And in the back of the house more of the same....little pasture surrounded by thick woods. I have 12 acres in the middle of 1000 acres land conservationism.

I get home from work at 12:30 at nite. I usually sit up watching TV till 2-3 in the morning.

Last nite something very unusual happened at a little after 2 am. The living room faces the road. The back of the couch where i sit is to the street side with 2 large windows behind me, roadside. Anyways a little after 2 am i'm smelling old spice wafting thru my windows. Thats weird to me as i don't use any kind of after shave. I don't shave. So i quickly turned off the lite and the tv thinking someone is outside watching me. I watch the beagle mix dog to see if she is sensing anything and which she is very quick to bark at the slightest hint of abnormal. Nothing. I set her on the couch and go upstairs and get my colt .45 ACP Officers pistol. Locked and loaded now.

I waited and listened for 45 minutes nothing. I eventually fell asleep.
Despite being remote we do have more then our fair share of whackados out here.

I cannot explain the smell of old spice but the beagle mix did not detect anything out of the ordinary.

    Weird.

That is weird, maybe the dude saw you and took off.

We live way out to and last night I stepped out on the patio at 11PM to get the cat in. There she is cowered in a corner with 5 Raccons surrounding her. Didn't have my pistol with me but grabbed the broom and let one of em have it. The rest ran up the path to the woods in the back all growling at me. Picked up the cat threw her in and went wow that was weird.

Walked outside last night to look at my truck. Heard a noise and there was a teenage skunk waddling up to the front door which i left open, he looked in the house then saw me. He turned and raised his butt at me. So i hid behind the truck. He waddldled back down the walk way and to the back of the bar. I thought, weird, lol.

"Teenage skunk" ??? Was it his haircut that gave away his age?

Not too many skunks here on the island. In fact, I don't ever remember seeing one here.

Old Spice? Maybe it was the ghost of Christmas past, since that is what most of us gave our fathers when we were young.
