What a day!

    So, working on putting in some fence....got a call from my squadron commander......:eek:

    Just got the official word. Roll out to Afghanistan in Sept. Have 2 months of army training prior to going....total time will be 8-9 months, plus whatever spin up I need at the local unit (firearms, and other stuff). At this rate, Desert Storm 1991, Iraq, 2008, now Afghanistan 2010-2011....wonder if I can make it from 2011 thru 2016 without more deployments?!

    OH, and being that I am off today, I have no further details at this time...probably start getting some next week??? Think Kabul, but everyone says that...then get moved to another FOB (forward operating base).

    for those that know me on facebook, I am not releasing this info on FB at this time....need to keep some family in the dark for a bit longer, they worry too much... thanks!

    I was just saying to myself this morning that we haven’t heard from you in a while. A lot can happen between now and September, I know I’ll be praying for as will many others at Bike Talk. Thanks again for serving our country.

    I poke around here...don't have much time, so have not been posting lately! Moved from San Antonio to Great Falls MT....been BUSY beyond belief...... and now will just keep getting more busy!! *in best Paulie Shore voice* "It's ARMY training, sir!!"

    ..It's nasty over there. If you're in Kanduhar stop in at the Tim Horton's for a coffee..[it'll be on the Canadian Base..coffee's pretty good..ask for a double double] be safe..and thanks..God Bless

    I wished you could just stay home for awhile with the family. Stay safe over there and be careful. Hope your able to get some riding in before yea leave, maybe even Sturgis. We'll pray for your safe keeping. Take care and get back home soon.

    well, got a few more details today....Army training from 5 July to 10 Sept, in place by 19 Sept (so probably won't get to come home and see family between the 2.....) Location of said training is Ft. Polk LA....oh joy.....that is one place I was hoping NOT to go to! (there are better locations!). Still don't know many details, but things are starting to form up....looks like I will be gone for about 9 months...wife isn't thrilled, daughter will be PISSED (when we get around to telling her.....)

    That does really Blows, I hope you can get some time with the wife and the daughter before you leave.
    Did an inspection today for a young couple, with a brand spanking new baby girl (born Friday morning) and he is going to be leaving for either Iraq or Afghanistan in a couple months. Really does suck when you got to leave those you love behind when you would rather be with them. I really feel for you.

    Yep your going to the arm pit of the Army , , on a weekend rent a ride & run over & watch chuck work , I know he's not as good to you as your wife & daughter but hey better then nothing , :roflmao:
    Chris we all went through being away from our family But thats why we did what we did & your doing the same & ME & mine THANK YOU FOR THAT
