Well, I would like to know what kind of helmets you guys (and Ladies) wear. I have 2, a full face with flip up chin guard, and a cheap half shell. The full face I wear when I ride at night (for bugs and animals) and the half shell I wear when it's really hot and on short runs. I know that doesn't make any sense, safety should always be an issue.

I don't know how to get the poll at the top of the page, oh well

    Ahhhhh, I figured it out!

It's the law here in Korea to wear one, but I wouldn't ride without one anyway. You need all the edge you can get over here, the way they drive. I actually had a truck back up onto my front fender while I was behind the idiot at a stop light, and unable to back up due to a cage right on my tail. Pretty scary moment!

God bless all soldiers past, present and future they are why we have the freedoms that we do have. The Army has a helmet law that says no matter where we are, lid free states or not, we must wear a helmet and a reflective vest. They will not pay for injuries and possibly will not pay survivor benefits if we go down with out this gear on.:cussing:

We don't have a helmet law and I prefer not to wear one. However, I teach the MSF course, so I have to wear one to and from class (and while teaching, of course). I also live on the border of a state with a helmet law and like to travel a lot, so I wear one often. I've had a half helmet for a while and bought a 3/4 with a face shield at the beginning of the season. It helps when it's cold.

I hate the way the wind pulls the helmet up and wrenches my neck when I'm riding. If I put my detachable windshield on, it's much better. I'd rather be 100% in the wind though. When I take my trip I'll keep the windshield on to make it easier for the helmet states and when I have those 500 mile interstate days.

While I believe in the right to choose (I won't tell you to wear a helmet), I've come to actually prefer a full-face for comfort. It's quieter on long rides, which brings less fatigue due to wind noise, etc. I hear my stereo (now listening to Sirius radio) better, and that's with earplugs (cuts the road noise down greatly). No doubt a full-face is safer (I've seen things in ER and ICU I don't want to be part of myself..plus Las Vegas drivers suck). I have a half-shell I wear a couple of times a year for short jaunts in the heat, but not often. With that said..I road without a helmet in Colorado last week to go to the store and back home. What a trip..used to do that all the time 30 years ago.

Mine is an old fiberglass 1/2 shell Harley helmet that I bought off a buddy of mine when I was in Germany, and I`ve used it ever since. It gets repainted whenever I repaint the Sportster.

It's the law in NC. Therefore I wear what I call the "Brain Bucket." A non DOT approved bucket. My wife wears one and so does my daughter. When we reach a state that is helmet free, it comes off immediately. It's our choice and that is what we've chosen.:)

My wife and wear 3/4 helmets mostly. We have 1/2 helmets also, but we usually wear the 3/4's. Intercom, which we like, works better with the 3/4.

Most of the time I don't wear one. When I do it's usually very cold and I wear a full face.

I perfer to get scalp-scortch. Occasionally, I'll throw on a dew-rag, but really prefer the wind in the hair. Really love it when I get off at a conveinence store for a drink er' somethin' & the hair is still doing 80!!:D

I live in the "border state" that has the helmet law. Massachusetts for those who haven't guessed. I have a 1/2 DOT helmet that I almost never wear and an illegal brainbucket that I wear 99% of the time. I also believe in letting those who ride decide. When I go north of the border I ride without one.

Hot01. What part of NH are you in? I'm in Billerica, MA, about 15-20 minutes down rte 3 from Nashua.

I have a 1/2 DOT helmet that I got shipped up from the States... one of those matte black, Nazi-looking-type helmets. I love it... wouldn't trade it for the world... unless I didn't have to wear one. Every province in Canada legislates and enforces helmet use... the DOT vs. Soup Bucket gets enforced differently depending on the province and even municipality.

I got the thing coated in decals as well... some of which I had made up. The ones I designed say:

Riding bike is like a sore dick... you can't beat it!

Size doesn't matter when there's 230lbs of ass coming right behind it!

    50% Newfie + 50% Irish = 100% Hungover

    I like 'em!
