Anyone out here have a outlet for the remover besides Jim"s, $315.00 seems a little pricey.

Yup, Jim's stuff is expensive. Made in USA is the reason why, though I agree - it sounds overpriced. Probably the steel is better in the Jim's one, too.

Georges Garage tools are USA made too and a lot less than Jims, that price on Amazon was real good for the bearing tool, just about all the specialty tools I've bought are from Georges, they're good quality stuff, without the Jim's or Kent-Moore prices...

I guess my question is how many bearings are you going to do? you can quickly craft a remover installier with a little imagination IE: (brass drift and hammer, slpit and ground cold rolled, a socket and bolt, etc.) your not going to reuse them anyway. Or for as much as you are going to do it a local shop not neccessarily a OEM one can likely perform the dirty deed for next to nothing. Or you can buy it.

Yeah my rule on tools is if it's one time use most likely
I don't buy it being something in the $100 and up range
as labor for this should be a half hour if you pulled the wheels
off and take them in off the bike, which you'd do if you
are doing your own work anyway..

Sorry it took so long to get back, tool worked great. Quality I'm sure is less them a Jim's tool but for as often as it's going to get used it will be fine. HD dealership gets a hours worth of labor to do one and I did two so it already paid for itself and put money in my pocket. I'm sure I could of made something that would do the job but now I have one that does all three sizes.

I needed to replace the front wheel bearings on my FLHX last year, and took the wheel to a local indy shop. He said that if I supplied the new bearings, he'd do it for $25.

Went back a few days later to pick up the wheel, and he about started crying how much money he's losing. What??? He said that was the hardest he ever worked for $25.

Said it took him 3 hrs to get old ones out without ruining the wheel because of the big axle spacer inside the wheel that H-D uses to correctly space the bearings. New bearings pressed in in 10 minutes. Glad I didn't buy the tool.

I bought the tool and had both bearings out and knew ones in, took about a half hour. I'm sure that I will run across some bad ones sooner or later. Maybe he tryed doing it without the correct tool. Was it a harley dealership that did it for you?

No, this was an indy shop that had never done an H-D wheel before. I doubt he had the special tool and I'm glad I didn't see him hammering on my wheel or I would have taken it away from him.
