I want to replace the stock (FUGLY!) rear wheel on my 2000 Sportster 1200 Custom. I found a nice rear wheel from a 1999 Softail (Nighttrain) and was wondering if it could be fitted to my bike. I assume the bearings are a different size, but does anyone know of any other other reason why this swap would not be possible?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

as long as the sprocket/disc will swap over, should not be a problem. i am not sure the disc/sprocket will swap to opposite side of the softtail wheel

the spacers might have to be cut a bit , double check both sides

Like chuck said, if you can swap sides with the sprocket and disc, I think both year wheels have the same diameter axle and wheel hubs are the same width(measure to verify both). Use the spacers from the Sporty wheel and put them in the Softail wheel and you should be good.

Instead of swapping pullies and rotors left to right, flip the wheel around.

Won't that effect traction because of tread direction?? (Because of how it wears)?
