Me and a nephew, bro in law and Fad in law signed up for a “practiscore competition” here on the island. I viewed some YouTube videos of past Long Island events and realized I better practice some and decide which pistola I should use. Ruger American 45acp or my sweet Baby Glock 26 Gen 5. This morning at the range after a couple hundred rounds I’ve come to realize that nobody will be safe at the competition! Ha! Just kidding. I may actually go with the little glock. The spreads were identical at 7, 10 and 15 yards. Maybe the 45 was a bit tighter at 15. But, more practice is needed.

Yep, good point. I’ll probably decide once I see the course. If they have any stages more than 15 yards I’ll definitely use the 45 with its longer frame and sites.

I would suggest you consider trading the older glock in on a new Gen5 MOS G 26
if you are going to run matches, even if you don't you can mount a red dot RMR to the new glocks as they are already setup for just about any RMR like Trijicon, Vortex et al.

You'll eliminate the issue with long or short sight radius of the slide length and
only have to use the dot, allows you to focus on the target as well because you can't
clearly focus on both the sights and the target.

With the red dot your eyes see the dot and you look through it at the target
and can focus on the target/threat better. It will also make you work on your
shooting because if you have an issue in grip or trigger control the red dot makes
it really apparent. Like an early flinch.

Once you work through the change which isn't difficult you'll shoot quicker and be on target more.

No. The slide would need to be sent in to Glock for mods.

You might be able to buy the MOS upper straight from glock,

If you are going to shoot targets, I'd buy the G17 Upper with MOS
it should slide right on to your G26 lower, and the SN for Glocks
is in the lower, the uppers are not considered the "gun" by ATF
so you can swap out barrels, sights, uppers without registering
a new gun with Dee Blas Hee Oh...

That way you'd still have a carry that you can't carry legally
and a full size upper for more velocity and longer sight radius
that you could put an optic on and you'd still have compliant mag
    capacity.

Actually there are several aftermarket companies you can get the upper
barrel, optic ready etc. Zev is top notch, the competition trigger drops
    right in and is unreal.

John Wick uses Taran Tactical Stuff.

If you are going Optic and competitive go Taran or Zev...
it's not cheap from these guys...

Thanks for the info. I already ordered a couple upgrades from the Glock Store to reduce trigger from 5.5 to 3.5 lbs and the slide spring assembly that improves grouping. Next will be the trigger.
