If you get no replies here, check HTT in their Swap Meet area. Good Luck.

It's for my shovel. Boy, that's a sweet looking wheel from Rob's. I'll call him Monday, and thanks, Lucifer.

Yeah, pickin's are slim for drum brake wheels..Heh...going with the drum brake is not a lot better than what you're running for a front brake now(none);)...What made you decide on drum over disc??

Actually, running the Sporty front drum is MUCH better than nothing. I had a '72 Sporty with that brake and it worked very well.

Anyhow, that wheel & brake are no longer available. I'm starting a new thread as I've changed my mind . . .

Yeah...they are not too bad,and a lot better than none....Disc is the way to go though IMO...Easier to find wheels and much better braking than drum brakes

Prefer the drum as it's "retro" looking and fits the theme of my bike. And as I mentioned before, there's no clunky master cylinder on the bars, and I'd be able to use the lever I have now.

Located a couple of Sporty wheels complete with the original drum brake. One was in only fair condition for the inflated price of $425 including dings and nicks and rusty spokes! The "restored" one was $500. Insane prices! That's why I'm going with another option. I started another thread looking for an old Hallcraft "half" mini drum brake. They do not stop worth a darn when used normally, but are perfect for stopping when nearly stopped at an intersection. I think this brake would work very well with a jockey shift set up, but finding one has so far been impossible. Someone on the shovelhead forum suggusted using one of the smaller Japanese front drum brakes. I don't think so. The Hallcraft has 40 spoke holes and will lace to my existing wheel, though I would have to get new spokes. My new wheel man says he could lace it all up for around $100 for labor.
Anyway, there's no hurry for anything - everything I have now is performing flawlessly and I'm in the saddle nearly every day :D.

Let me add that I would consider an Aermacchi (350 Harley Sprint) DLS front brake also. They stop very well for their size. Found one for $200, but too much rust to deal with - plus I would have to find a 19" 36 spoke wheel and spokes. Still shopping, and if any of you guys have some ideas, let me know . . .

The Jebby Shack, which specializes in Sportsters, choppers, etc., has several of the front drum brakes. Jebby is looking to piece one together for me. I've asked him to replace anything that might need replacing, and to get me a set of chrome spokes to use on my 19" wheel.

Well, guys, I guess Jebby has forgotten me. If a reasonably priced 19" wheel and/or front drum brake becomes available, I may still get one.

Another option would be - horrors! - a disc brake for the front. It could be installed on my existing wheel hub and I'd only need to use spacers to get it to work on the wide glide forks.

    Either way, I'm in no hurry . . .
