After shaving all the bungs off my lower legs, and after riding again, I decided I wanted to go with a front brake after all.
I'm looking for a (used - not abused) left side lower leg with the brake bungs intact, or a PAIR of used lower legs if you are selling a set, 41mm, late 90's - early 00's FXST, polished - not chrome. Thanks, boys.

UPDATE: I found a pair of these on Ebay just now.

Yep, you gotta have that front brake to get her stopped properly. HRK is correct front brake is 60-80% of your stopping power

Yes, I did find a clean set on Ebay, thanks. I'm going to shave the fender bungs off for a cleaner look as I'm not going to run a front fender - hope I don't change my mind about that in the near future! Ha-ha!

I just hate the idea of cluttering up my handle bars with a bulky, ugly ass master cylinder. I was considering going with a front drum brake so I wouldn't have a master cylinder on the bars, but changing the hub and everything would cost a small fortune. A star hub and a drum brake would run around $650 to $700, otherwise I'd go that way instead of a front caliper brake.

JMO, leave the fender bits on for now,
you can always cut them off later.

First time you get caught in the rain
and that front tire soaks you from head
to tail and you can't see shidt
you'll want to get a fender LOL

Least this way once you get to see if you like riding
in rain without fender then you can cut them off.

    Easy to cut off,
    Hard to put back on

I'm sure that chopped-off rear fender gives you a skunk stripe up your back when you ride on wet street too.

Well, boys, those are risks I'm willing to take. It's all part of motorcycling to me. I'm having NO front fender. After all, it's a bobber.

If I get "striped" front and back, well, that's what washing machines are for - and showers!

    Who you talking to, boy?

Josh, just giving you a good-natured hard time. I did the exact same when I was young. Stripped off every part that wasn't absolutely needed.

Ha-ha, I know. And now that I'm old, I'm doing the stuff I never did to my bike when I was young! Strange, isn't it? Mac the Wife tells me (kiddingly) I must be going thru my mid life crisis - only way too late!
She comes out to the shop every now and then with something for me to drink or eat, and says I need "fortification". I've gotten her to help me work on the bike when I needed an extra set of hands. And she doesn't mind getting them greasy either . . .

You are one lucky man Josh. A place to unwind and enjoy creating something from scratch, and a loving wife to let you do it....even encourage and help you.

I've always wanted to build a hot rod Dyna that is stripped down and has all the serious hardware to really scream. I saw one at my local H-D dealer that had a 120R motor and healthy wheels, rubber, suspension, etc. I drooled for an hour, but they still wouldn't let me ride it.

That picture looks like me when I was 16. Except I was sitting on a Triumph 650 with straight pipes, no mufflers, no fenders, no lights, and no gauges. But I did have a front brake. Sorry I can't get that pic in here.
