    Mabe this will help
    I have this pistol.

This pistol might feel heavier because its a 45. But stick it in yer pants under your belt and you forgit you have it on.
    Shoots super sweet.
But realize this gun will do some serious damage. No matter where you hit anybody. They will go down.

I must say that I like the stainless on black better than the all black.

I do think I would like that back strap safety over the tumb side saftey. Does it have mag release on both sides?

Let me see if I can spell that BiG word.
    Ambidextrous mag release.
I like the 1911 style safety on the grip over just the trigger safety or carry or shooting.
Go shoot the gun. Don't just take my word for it.

Hey CB, I must say that after I looked at Springfield's site and specifically at the XDM, that is a KICKASS pistol. This one I may have to ask if my shop has one and if I can shoot it. I imagine that there aren't too many used ones floating around.. What is the caliber? .45?

Thank you for at least considering it.

The one I tote is a XDm 3.8 compact 45
I also own the XDm 3.8 compact 40 and 9mm

    they all shoot great.
    I Love the 45

But I want you to go shoot the pistols.
Put it in Your hand, How it fits , and what you like is important.
Not what I like. I just want you to go and hold the pistol in your hand, and to shoot it.

If you are not familiar with a pistol like this, PLEASE git somebody to show you how to handle the pistol
Not knocking your knowledge. Just don't want to see you have a bad experience with it.
Don't know how much you know about pistols. But don't touch the trigger till you are ready to fire.
Not for sure if any gun ranges near you rent them.
My neighbor seen my pistol. He went to several stores. No Springfield semi auto pistols were in the store.

Its a hell of a nice lookin pistol Heard a couple things I was leary of about on it. Not fond of a single stack pistol. Know they have their places.
Don't know if it was the person shooting it the shells or what.
It has a smaller grip. my hand likes a bigger grip like my pistol has.
Hold one on yer hand .
It don't hold enough bullets for me. I'm a hog I know bullets means weight. But once you stick it in your pants under your belt. You don't notise it.
Like wearing a heavy leather jacket. If you hold it, its heavy. But put it on and ride and you don't notise the weight.
I really, really like the XDM 3.8 compact. Like the size of the pistol. how it feels in the hand and all. This pistol has been out a year now if I remember right..
Pistol might feel alittle top heavy till you shoot it. Then you realize the top weight helps with the recoil.
    I would hate to be shot with a 22 . But I couldn't imagine being shot with a 45.
Huge piece of lead coming at you.
Had a buddy that was shot in the stomach with a 357 magnum pistol
He lived , and he was very lucky. He said it was like his guts was set on fire.
Took a while for him to get back on his feet.
I don't like a pistol so small I might shoot my hand with it.

When I bought my 45 in feb of this year I gave 549.00 for it. 2 months later I went to the gun show and was told they are gong up
When I just bought the Springfield 3.8 compact 9mm. I had to pay 659.00 Plus tax for it.
They are hard to find here. And I mean Very, very hard.
But its the pistol that I wanted and liked. Ain't settling for something else.
Like how it fits in my hand. like how it fits in my pants. Like how it shoots. This is a WoW pistol for me.

There just the most sought after pistol that Springfield has. Just like the Shield just about everyone wants one and you can't find one. And remember CB, all you need is one shot :)

JB you are getting a lot of good advice on types of firearms
however I'd offer that you take it as advice not gospel.

the only person that understands what will work for you
is you. Semi-Auto vs revolver, it's a personal choice
and one you need to be comfortable with, ie carry, safety
    fit, your confidence etc.

so keep looking and handling and if you can rent one
do it so you know how it works, nothing is wrong
with any of the selections but any one could be the wrong
    selection for you.

The key thing to remember is to find something that
you will carry, and can comfortably carry and fit your
lifestyle, if your work allows you to carry (ie there isn't
a prohibition) you need to figure out do you need a pocket
gun or IWB if you sit in meetings an OWB Full size isn't gonna work
but an LCR or KelTec P3at will be in your pocket and nobody
    will know.

Also remember, concealed means concealed don't tell anyone
you have one, you have no idea if the gal in the cube next to
you has some anti gun agenda and makes your life miserable.

Point being carry is a great thing, but if the gun won't be
carried it's not worth having. These guys are all self employed
or retired, you are not... Big difference.

Like I said consider two options pocket and compact
    and where you carry.

It's not just to carry on the bike when you go on a trip
bike thing, and don't get caught up in the BS 45 is the only
round that works argument, it's absurd, yeah big bullets are good
but a 22 will kill someone just as dead.

38, 9 mm all are capable of doing the job,

I guess one more explanation does not hurt. Age and job has little to do with it. It is what you personally want and need it for. I also agree about the 45 bigger thing. Need to find out which one handles best and that also includes the caliber. Good luck with it and don't get serious just have fun looking and then once you have it narrowed then start looking for that one and where to get the best price.

    What if you miss,
What if there is more than one person.
What if they have a gun.
Screw yer one shot. I'm shooting more than one time
    I need to make sure
