Here in California they have a similar program for roadside assistance (free). In an effort to replace freeway call boxes you can now dial #399 on your cell phone. A metro freeway patrol will come out and tow you out of traffic, give you a boost, or a little gas to get you off the freeway to a station. The Metro service contracts with local tow companies who charge back their services. It also helps get stalled cars and debris out of our freeway lanes during busy commutes.
