I have just changed oil for the first time on this bike. I just bought it a few months ago and have put about 200 miles on it. I changed the oil and put scremin eagle synthetic oil in it 20/50. Can this be the problem why it is smoking so badly?
When I bought the bike it did smoke a little but not like it is now. Then I did the oil change.
CD I did get your message and wrote it all down. Now I am in a fight with the wife about the money being spent on the bike. I am going to try and do the job myself. As far as taking it apart and doing as much as I can. Is there a tear down sheet that I can follow. I do have the manual for the bike but I am sure that there are some tricks out there that people know about that are not in the book.
I would love to have a step by step write up on how to...

I have a 2001 Dyna Wide Glide, I started up just fine this morning, rode to work then I shut it off to open the gate, when I went to start it the starter just spun, I tried several times with no luck. I pushed it in gear to jog the engine incase it was in a funny spot, no luck. I noticed last weekend that the starter was kinda slipping as if it has a cluch or something? I have a lot of mechanical experience with engines, however this is my first Harley and my service manual is at home. From my experience it seems like the solenoid, on most newer engines I have worked on you replace both starter and solenoid is it the same way with my Harley? or could it be because the battery might be low and there is not enough umph to kick the solenoid? It didn't seem to be low when I started up this...
