2004 Sportster Roadster, Screamin Eagle intake with K&N filter, Screamin Eagle II pipes, Dynojet kit with 175 main. Idle about 850rpm and mixture screw about 3 1/2 turns. Once warmed up and after 15-20 secs at 1800rpm, closing throttle and giving a quick snap open makes the engine give a backfire in the carb and the slide diaphragm is beginning to show a burn mark. It is enough of a backfire to usually stall the engine. I ordered the CV tuner kit today to replace the Dynojet kit that came with no pilot jets. Will this take care of it or is it normal? Seems dangerous to merge with traffic right now.

I bought this bike back in September, it's an '83 Suzuki GS550L. It seems to be in pretty good shape for a 30 year old bike, only has 23k on it and the previous owner took really good care of it. I was having troubles with it stalling back in the fall so I did a complete valve adjustment and it ran great after that.
I stored it over the winter with fuel stabilizer and took the battery out and kept it indoors. At the beginning of this season it was running fine but slowly started to have starting difficulties, eventually it wouldn't start at all. The battery is dead now from all the trying to start, and even when I jump it it doesn't work.
The plugs are fairly new as is the air filter, although after trying to start it the plugs are all black and soaked in fuel. Using the choke...

Picked this info up so will have to wait and see if its true but bet it is as those models have not done well in sales.
Harley is streamlining it's lineup of motorcycles for 2014 by dropping six bikes from their catalog for 2014. According to the moco, the changes are supposed to "optimise the number of choices available, reduce product overlap, reflect marketplace dynamics and reduce model complexity in showrooms". Harley-Davidson actually has been increasing in profitability, but these unlucky six just haven't been doing so hot.
Say so long to the XR1200X Sportster, the FXS Softail Blackline, and the FLHTC Electra Glide for good. The FLHRC Road King Classic will be getting the axe in the US as well.
Both the FLTRX Road Glide Custom and the FLTRU Road Glide Ultra won't be...
