With the regulator removed (rubber plug pulled off) I got a reading of 0.5 ohms and with digital voltmeter got a bouncing AC voltage from what looked like 19 to 12 volts when running. It fluctuates very fast so its difficult to pick up all the numbers. I'm trying to figure if the stator is putting out as it should.
Also, is there any good test for the regulator? All I see is to change it with a known good one....
Up until recently, it would fire right up, but within minutes start backfiring through the front pipe and foul the plugs bad. Black sooty. I tried adjusting the carb (an S&S E) new plugs and wires, everything. I got it to go 30 feet once before it backfired and quit. But the next day, after replacing the plugs again, she fired right up. Readjusted carb so she wouldn't run so rich....
