So is there a throttle body out there that sets itself apart from the rest?

Get a Big Ass Cubes on a engine. Wind it up like everybody does.
Then have somebody to pull out in front of you. Or a dog to run out.
Or have an emergency situation, then see how fast your bike stops and tell me 60mph is 60 mph.
When you grab the brakes you need them to stop as fast as possible

You will not be building a 117cu motor and runing 60 mph.

All I can say to this is we went on two different rides today. One up in the hills mountains by you guys standards and was riding the 2014 with the good brakes and dang glad I had them on that 110 bike. Then got back and jumped on my 03 Heritage Springer to ride to bike night. I really missed the bigger bikes brakes as man that 03 bike doesn't stop for sheet compared to the big bike. Grab a handful on the 03 and it's like where are the brakes. Those new bikes stop so quickly and smoothly, makes me almost not wanting to ride the 03 bike.
    Love them new brakes.

Ok you got me bang. I will be riding posted speed limits. Max speed of 75 in these parts. Believe it or not I have only had my Road Glide past 100 mph twice in the 4 years I have had it.

How fast are you going to be going from 0 to 75 ?

And just because the speedlimit is 75 don't mean squat.
You will be running 85 +in the 75 speed limit.

Yer talking to the wrong person dude.
If you are only gonna be running the speedlimit. you can leave the bike where it is.
It will run 75 all day long stock.

You are right, the older bikes brakes SUX. And they are dangerous if you want to build a motor and twist the throttle .
And like I been trying to say. it ain't only the brakes. Nor the anti lock brake system.
Its the neck bearings, the motor mounts. The frame. The swingarm system, HD went with new forks being a wider diameter on the front end.
The fuel injection. Computer system to stop the bike when the ABS pulsates.
    Wider rear tire

And I wonder why they went with a stroker motor ?

In 10 they made the tranny better and changed the gear ratio of the tranny ?

You are right FLHT the whole bike has been redesigned.
But your bike has a hydraulic clutch system so you got a easy pull clutch.

And the 110cu motor on the bikes is the way to go.
You already got the bigger holes in the cases. And everything on the bike new.
Just putting a good set of cams like the woods 222 in the 110cu motor will wake it up and make it run very good.
We tore into my buddy down the streets 10 SG and put the 222 cams in it and new lifters and dual piston tensioners and SE Tapered Quick install push rods and a Power Vision from Jamie.

But I guess you got to throw your money away for years before you figure this out.

And sentimental stuff will break you tryin to hang on to it.

Nothing runs like a new bike.

You bring up a whole lot of very valid points no one thinks of when they build a bike or a car or whatever they are into. There is more to a big engine than power, the whole chassis needs to be re thought depending on your power level.

You are right. Glad you can see that.
And when you twist the throttle and the bike blast off the line and you feel the power , then feel the older parts on the bike. You realize why HD made the changes they made.

And what is the most important thing on the bike.
Its your hide and your safety.
And when you do all these things to a older bike. If you wanted to sell it.
Is it gonna make a older bike any more expensive ?
you can buy a older truck and put chrome wheel on it and new tires and a sound system in it and do some things to the motor.
The truck will only bring Blue Book Value
So why not start with the right piece of equiptment and do the build.
And just because you got a new bike don't mean you got to wait till the warranty ,
runs out to do anything. I had a 5 yr extended warranty.
I didn't wait. I knew what I wanted and did it.

If you make it go, better fix the whoa!

JB's posts are rambling, he wants bulk cubic inch power
yet he's going to ride it per the law, at the speed limit

Yeah an I got swamp land for sale here cheap....

Reminds me of the posts on HTT about how gas
mileage went down when someone (cams, bigger pistons, heads etc)
The parts didn't cause the decrease, it's the right wrist that
    causes the problem.

You get a stroker and you will cruise around on it, I did a lot
but you WILL be cracking the whip a lot, and when you do
its going to be going faster, quicker than you think,

Your gonna spend a lot of money on it and bet you finally break down and buy a new Roadglide, they are really nice and the new bikes are worth it.
Like yesterday riding my 03 Springer I just didn't enjoy it. Sure I did the 95 inch and loud mufflers but enjoy the 2014 bike so much better.

Everyday cars and trucks are bought with your head and wallet. Bikes and other "toys" are bought more with your heart. The other things are secondary. If JB wants to hop up the bike he has, just as he does with the Sporty, it is his money, have fun. I've likely tossed more at mine than I paid for it, and if I think of all the possible house repairs and university money for the daughter it has cost me I'd likely go crazy. I could have likely had a new or quite new Dyna for what I've spent on the Sporty I have. BadInfluence mentioned this in one of my first threads. He was right. But I would not have learned how and how not to do things if I followed his advice.
Build what you want, just be sure you make it safe and keep it on two wheels. You're lying to yourself if you don't think you'll ride the piss out of it once in awhile.

Roadster Guy we all have done that and I know I waisted more money doing it. I think all CB is trying to do is maybe save him some heart ache down the road. But like most of us the only way to learn is to do it and experience it.
